Brock Stewart RP | LAD
Dodgers' Brock Stewart: Set for Tommy John surgery
Stewart will undergo Tommy John surgery next week, he announced on his personal Twitter page Friday.
Stewart owns a 6.05 ERA in 105.2 career innings for the Dodgers and Blue Jays. He didn't throw an inning last season after getting cut by the Cubs over the summer. The timing of the surgery means he'll miss all of this season as well as a significant portion of the 2022 campaign.

J.B. Bukauskas RP | MIL
Diamondbacks' J.B. Bukauskas: Tagged with loss
Bukauskas (1-1) allowed two runs on three hits over one inning and picked up the loss to the Marlins on Thursday.
Two pitches into his stint, Bukauskas served up a home run to Adam Duvall, which broke a 1-1 tie and sent Miami on to a win. Following a four-outing hitless run after he was called up, Bukauskas has run into trouble, giving up six runs and nine hits over his last three innings.

Will Smith RP | KC
Braves' Will Smith: Records another save
Smith notched his seventh save of the season Thursday against the Nationals after pitching a scoreless inning. He allowed one hit and struck out one.
Smith allowed a double to Ryan Zimmerman to begin the ninth inning, but he settled down quickly and retired Trea Turner, Yadiel Hernandez and Josh Harrison to close things out. Smith has now gone 7-for-7 in save opportunities this season and has not allowed a run in any of his last five appearances.

Trevor May RP | ATH
Mets' Trevor May: Earns second hold
May pitched a perfect eighth inning while striking out two to secure a hold in Thursday's win over the Cardinals.
May has been stellar so far this season, as he owns a 1.59 ERA in 11.1 innings and the only earned runs against him came in his first appearance. Edwin Diaz has been inconsistent and banged up at times, which could lead to May receiving some save opportunities in the future. The 31-year-old has certainly been the most consistent pitcher in the Mets' bullpen in 2021.
-
Yimi Garcia RP | TOR
Marlins' Yimi Garcia: Records fifth save
Garcia allowed one hit during a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save during Thursday's win over Arizona.
The 30-year-old needed 16 pitches to secure the save as he continued pitching well to open the 2021 season. Garcia has a 2-2 record and is 5-for-6 in save opportunities, and he'll be in charge of the Marlins' closing role for the foreseeable future.

Edwin Diaz RP | LAD
Mets' Edwin Diaz: Notches fourth save
Diaz pitched a scoreless ninth inning, working around two hits to earn the save in a win over the Cardinals on Thursday.
Diaz was pitching for the first time since exiting Sunday's game with back tightness. He allowed the tying run to come up to the plate before retiring the final two batters. It was a nice bounce-back performance after surrendering three earned runs in his last outing. The 27-year-old is a perfect 4-for-4 in save chances and has allowed earned runs in only two of his 12 appearances.

Conner Menez RP | CHC
Giants' Conner Menez: Optioned to Triple-A
Menez was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday.
Menez was recalled to the big-league club for a doubleheader Tuesday against the Rockies. He didn't appear in a game but will likely serve as depth for the team's pitching staff throughout the season.

Tyler Beede RP | CHC
Giants' Tyler Beede: Begins rehab assignment
Beede (elbow) is beginning a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
Beede continues to progress in his return from Tommy John surgery, and he will now be set to face live hitters for the first time during his rehab. Due to his placement on the 60-day injured list, he is not eligible for MLB action until the end of May, though it remains unclear when he will be activated. Also unclear is what role the team intends to deploy Beede in, though he would be likely to make a faster impact out of the bullpen.

Scott Alexander RP | SF
Dodgers' Scott Alexander: Placed on injured list
Alexander was placed on the 10-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation Thursday, retroactive to May 3.
Alexander was dealing with shoulder soreness in Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cubs, and he'll now miss additional time after he was diagnosed with inflammation. It's not yet clear when the left-hander will be able to return to the mound, but right-hander Joe Kelly (shoulder) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.
-
Joe Kelly RP | LAD
Dodgers' Joe Kelly: Reinstated from injured list
Kelly (shoulder) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Thursday.
Kelly spent the first month of the season recovering from November surgery, but he'll now be available to make his season debut out of the bullpen. Left-hander Scott Alexander (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.
