    Marlins' Dylan Floro: Earns save No. 14

    Floro locked down his 14th save of the season Saturday against the Phillies, giving up one hit with a pair of strikeouts.

    Floro preserved a 3-1 lead by striking out Andrew McCutchen and J.T. Realmuto before stranding Freddy Galvis's two-out single. The 30-year-old Floro has converted 14 of 20 save opportunities in his first season as a closer, logging a 2.86 ERA and 61:25 K:BB over 63 innings. He's also recorded a career-high 11 holds.

    Padres' Mark Melancon: Picks up 39th save

    Melancon pitched a scoreless ninth inning with one strikeout to earn the save against the Giants on Saturday.

    Melancon came on in the 10th inning with a 3-2 lead and retired Steven Duggar, Buster Posey and Wilmer Flores to capture his 39th save of the season. That's Melancon's best total since 2016, when he locked down 47 saves for Pittsburgh and Washington. The 36-year-old owns a 2.23 ERA and 59:25 K:BB in 64.2 innings this season.

    Nationals' Joan Adon: Draws first big-league start

    Adon will be promoted from Triple-A Rochester to start Sunday's game against the Red Sox, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

    Adon has pitched at three levels of the minor leagues this season. He spent the majority of the campaign with High-A Wilmington, where he managed a 4.97 ERA with 91 strikeouts across 87 frames. Despite throwing only 18 innings between Double and Triple-A, he'll make his major-league debut in a game that could have implications on the American League playoff picture. Most recently, Adon threw four scoreless innings while striking out seven and walking three in his only start with Triple-A Rochester.

    Phillies' Sam Coonrod: Shakes off thumb injury

    Coonrod (thumb) made back-to-back appearances out of the Philadelphia bullpen Wednesday and Thursday against Atlanta, covering 1.1 innings while striking out two.

    The first of the two appearances marked Coonrod's first game action since Sept. 22, as the Phillies had stayed away for him for about a week while he dealt with a right thumb injury. The 29-year-old owns a 4.04 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 42.1 innings on the season.

  • Mets' Robert Gsellman: Returns Saturday

    Gsellman (lat) was activated from the 60-day injured list Saturday.

    Gsellman last took the mound for the Mets on June 19. However, he began a rehab assignment Sept. 6 and appeared in six games, totaling 6.1 innings while allowing seven earned runs on 10 hits and three walks. Gsellman is likely to serve as a low-leverage reliever across the Mets' final two games; it's possible that he could work multiple frames.

    Cubs' Tommy Nance: Placed on injured list

    Nance was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Saturday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

    Nance joins a lengthy list of Cubs who have landed on the COVID-19 injured list late in the year, and it's not yet clear whether he's tested positive for the virus or whether he's considered a close contact. Right-hander Joe Biagini's contract was selected from Triple-A Iowa.

    Dodgers' Mitch White: Recalled by Dodgers

    White was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday.

    White was sent down in mid-September, but he'll rejoin the major-league roster after Clayton Kershaw (forearm) was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday. The right-hander has recorded a 3.74 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 45.2 innings across 20 appearances (four starts) in the majors this year and will likely serve as a reliever following his call-up.

    Rockies' Peter Lambert: Sent down Saturday

    Lambert was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.

    Lambert started Wednesday's game against the Nationals and allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out one in two innings. He gave up seven runs in 5.2 innings across two major-league starts this year but will head back to the minors after Chi Chi Gonzalez (oblique) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Saturday.

    Braves' Jesse Chavez: Starting Saturday

    Chavez will start Saturday's game against the Mets.

    Chavez will likely serve as an opener in Saturday's matchup since Atlanta plans to utilize its bullpen in the penultimate game of the regular season. The right-hander has recorded a 0.79 ERA and 0.71 WHIP in 11.1 innings across his last 11 appearances.

    Padres' Pedro Avila: Sent back to Triple-A

    Avila was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Saturday.

    Avila wasn't going to pitch again this season after throwing four innings in his season debut Friday. He'll give his roster spot to James Norwood, who was recalled in a corresponding move.
