  • Joe Palumbo RP | TEX

Giants' Joe Palumbo: Grabbed by Giants

Palumbo (undisclosed) was claimed off waivers by the Giants on Friday.

Palumbo didn't throw a single major-league inning this season and threw just 6.2 in the minors. He dealt with a back injury in the early part of the season and an undisclosed injury late in the year, so it's a bit of a mystery what he'll be able to do for the Giants next season, but the southpaw was considered a moderately interesting prospect for the Rangers a few years ago.

  • Hunter Harvey RP | CHC

Giants' Hunter Harvey: Claimed by Giants

Harvey (triceps) was claimed off waivers by the Giants on Friday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Harvey was limited to nine games for Baltimore in 2021 due to oblique, lat and triceps injuries, and the team opted to remove him from the 40-man roster. The 26-year-old was long considered one of the Orioles' top prospects, but his professional career has been marred by a plethora or injuries, prompting the team to move on.

  • Justin Wilson RP | BOS

Reds' Justin Wilson: Opts in for 2022

Wilson has exercised his player option and will remain with the Reds for next season.

Wilson will be owed $2.3 million next year. The lefty struggled to a 7.50 ERA in 18 innings for the Yankees to start the year but posted a 2.81 ERA in 16 frames after midseason trade to the Reds.

  • Nationals' Francisco Perez: Claimed by Nats

Perez was claimed off waivers from Cleveland by the Nationals on Friday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Perez spent most of 2021 at the Triple-A level, where he posted a 3.12 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 36:20 K:BB across 26 innings. However, the 24-year-old also made his MLB debut and allowed three runs on six hits with a 5:3 K:BB across 6.2 frames (four appearances).

  • Pierce Johnson RP | CIN

Padres' Pierce Johnson: Returning to Padres

The Padres have exercised their $3 million option on Johnson for the 2022 season, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

The righty appeared in 63 games for San Diego in 2021, posting a 3.22 ERA and 1.26 WHIP in 58.2 innings. Johnson has put together consecutive strong seasons and is a bargain for the Padres at only $3 million.

  • Trevor Gott RP | WAS

Brewers' Trevor Gott: Lands in Milwaukee

Gott signed a one-year contract with the Brewers on Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Gott spent the entire 2021 season at Triple-A Sacramento and recorded a 4.10 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 41.2 innings across 43 appearances (one start). He'll now have the chance to carve out a bullpen role with the Brewers in spring training after landing a major-league contract.

  • Braves' Tucker Davidson: Starting Game 5

Davidson will start Game 5 of the World Series on Sunday.

Davidson was added to the World Series roster to replace Charlie Morton (lower leg) and will be making his postseason debut. The lefty impressed in four starts this regular season, totaling 20 innings and striking out 18 while managing a 3.60 ERA and 1.15 WHIP. Manager Brian Snitker will certainly have Davidson on a short leash, especially with Drew Smyly rested and available to provide length out of the bullpen if needed.

  • Dylan Lee RP | ATL

Braves' Dylan Lee: Starting World Series Game 4

Lee will start Game 4 of the World Series against the Astros on Saturday.

Manager Brian Snitker had previously indicated the team would go with an opener in Game 4 with a 2-1 series lead, but that opener was a mystery until Saturday afternoon. It will be Lee, who has made two appearances so far this postseason, allowing three hits -- including a homer -- over 2.2 innings. Lee spent most of the year at Triple-A, not debuting for the big-league team until the final days of the regular season.

  • Jorge Guzman RP | SF

Marlins' Jorge Guzman: Outrighted off 40-man roster

Guzman (elbow) has been reinstated from the 60-day injured list and outrighted off the 40-man roster, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Guzman had been out since mid-August with an elbow issue. Players can't remain on the injured list over the offseason, so the Marlins had to either add him to the 40-man roster or outright him. They went the latter route, perhaps unsurprisingly for a pitcher who has given up eight runs in just 2.2 career MLB innings.

  • Jeff Brigham RP | CHC

Marlins' Jeff Brigham: Outrighted to Triple-A

Brigham (undisclosed) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list and outrighted to Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Brigham spent the entire 2021 campaign on the 60-day injured list, but the right-hander will remain off the 40-man roster early in the offseason.
