Giants' Jakob Junis: To IL with hamstring strain

Junis was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a left hamstring strain, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Per Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, Junis hasn't gotten an MRI yet but wasn't feeling much better Saturday morning. Slusser also notes that hamstring strains typically require 3-to-6 weeks of recovery and the team will know more after his MRI. The Giants will likely have to dip into the Triple-A rotation for a short-term replacement for Junis.

  • Jordan Hicks RP | CHW

Cardinals' Jordan Hicks: Bullpen session set for Sunday

Hicks (forearm) will throw a bullpen session Sunday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Hicks has taken it easy since landing on the injured list in late May, but he is on the verge of throwing off a mound. Hicks' status will be updated again when he approaches the next milestone in his recovery, which could include a rehab assignment.

  • Rockies' Justin Lawrence: Added as 27th man

Lawrence was selected as the 27th man for Saturday's doubleheader against the Padres.

Lawrence has been with Triple-A Albuquerque since being optioned in late May, but he will rejoin the big club for at least one day and two games.

  • Ty Blach RP | CHC

Rockies' Ty Blach: Lands on injured list

Blach was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a left wrist strain.

It's unclear if the injury contributed to Blach's rough Friday night outing, but one way or another he will miss at least a couple weeks of action. Ryan Feltner was recalled to take Blach's place on the roster.

  • Reiss Knehr RP | SD

Padres' Reiss Knehr: Brought up Saturday

Knehr was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Saturday.

Knehr has posted a 7.84 ERA and 1.68 WHIP in 12 appearances with El Paso this season, but the Padres needed an extra arm with a couple pitchers landing on the COVID-19-related injured list, and Knehr got the call. If he does not pitch Saturday, there's a chance he could start the day after.

  • Raymond Kerr RP | ATL

Padres' Ray Kerr: Recalled by Padres

Kerr was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Saturday.

Kerr spent the last few weeks in the minors after being sent down in mid-May, but he will get another chance to show what he can do with the big club. He will provide depth in the bullpen for Saturday's doubleheader against the Rockies and beyond after Adrian Morejon (illness) was placed on the COVID-19-related injured list.

  • Padres' Nick Martinez: Starting Saturday's opener

Martinez will start Game 1 of Saturday''s doubleheader against the Rockies.

Martinez was expected to take the ball Sunday, but he will instead do so a day earlier in place of Mike Clevinger, who landed on the COVID-19-related injured list.

  • Padres' Adrian Morejon: Added to COVID-19 list

Morejon was placed on the COVID-19-related injured list Saturday.

Morejon made his season debut earlier in the week, but he will have to clear the league's protocols before he makes his next appearance.

  • Brewers' Peter Strzelecki: Brought back by Brewers

Strzelecki was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.

Strzelecki will replace Luke Barker in Milwaukee's bullpen and will claim a spot on the active roster for the second time this season. Expect him to work in middle relief for the big club.

  • Cole Sulser RP | TB

Marlins' Cole Sulser: Credited with win Friday

Sulser (1-3) picked up the win in Friday's victory over the Astros, giving up one hit and one walk over 1.2 scoreless innings while striking out three.

The Marlins never trailed in the game and the right-hander didn't take the mound until the seventh inning, but with starter Pablo Lopez (wrist) not lasting at least five frames, the official scorer judged Sulser to be the most effective of Miami's relievers and credited him with the win. The 32-year-old remains in the high-leverage mix for the Marlins despite unimpressive numbers, collecting two saves and six holds through 22.2 innings with a 3.97 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 26:10 K:BB.
