Marlins' Cole Sulser: Credited with win Friday

Sulser (1-3) picked up the win in Friday's victory over the Astros, giving up one hit and one walk over 1.2 scoreless innings while striking out three.

The Marlins never trailed in the game and the right-hander didn't take the mound until the seventh inning, but with starter Pablo Lopez (wrist) not lasting at least five frames, the official scorer judged Sulser to be the most effective of Miami's relievers and credited him with the win. The 32-year-old remains in the high-leverage mix for the Marlins despite unimpressive numbers, collecting two saves and six holds through 22.2 innings with a 3.97 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 26:10 K:BB.

  • Dylan Floro RP | ARI

Marlins' Dylan Floro: Picks up first hold

Floro gave up a hit and a walk in a scoreless inning of relief to record his first hold of the season in Friday's win over the Astros.

While the hold is nice to see, Floro wasn't working in anything close to a high-leverage situation, as he entered the game to get the final out of the fifth inning with the Marlins ahead 6-3. Nonetheless, it was the right-hander's ninth straight appearance without allowing a run, a stretch that has lowered his ERA to 3.97 and his WHIP to 1.24 despite a pitiful 2:4 K:BB through 11.1 innings on the season. Until he can start striking out more batters, though, it's hard to imagine Floro returning to late-inning duty.

  • A.J. Minter RP | NYM

    Braves' A.J. Minter: Notches league-leading 14th hold

Minter worked two-thirds of an inning without being charged with a run to record his 14th hold of the season in Friday's win over the Pirates.

He did allow a sacrifice fly to Cal Mitchell after entering the game in the eighth inning with runners on second and third and only one out, but Pittsburgh's rally got no further. Minter has been Atlanta's most reliable setup man this season in front of closer Kenley Jansen, posting a 1.05 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and 35:4 K:BB through 25.2 innings, and his 14 holds leads the majors, putting him one ahead of the Brewers' Devin Williams and the Angels' Ryan Tepera.

  • Tyler Matzek RP | NYY

Braves' Tyler Matzek: Begins long toss

Matzek (shoulder) was cleared to begin a long toss routine Friday, Gabriel Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The southpaw has been sidelined for a month so far due to shoulder inflammation, but he's ready to take the next step in his recovery. Matzek doesn't appear to be particularly close to rejoining the Atlanta bullpen, and he might need a minor-league rehab assignment before being activated from the IL.

  • Adam Ottavino RP | NYY

Mets' Adam Ottavino: Snags seventh hold

Ottavino worked 0.2 scoreless innings Friday to record his seventh hold of the season in a win over the Angels.

After Joely Rodriguez put the first two Angels aboard in the eighth inning before striking out Brandon Marsh, Ottavino got the call to shut down the rally and needed only three pitches to induce a double play grounder from Jo Adell. Ottavino has settled into his setup role for the Mets, with six of his holds coming since the beginning of May -- a stretch during which he's posted a 2.45 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 18:5 K:BB over 14,2 innings.

  • Tanner Scott RP | LAD

Marlins' Tanner Scott: Notches fourth save

Scott struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his fourth save of the season in a 7-4 win over the Astros.

The southpaw now has three saves and two wins in his last five appearances, as Scott emerges as the Marlins' top bullpen option while Anthony Bender (back) is on the injured list. Scott's 4.24 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 11.9 percent walk rate through 23.1 innings on the season highlight his volatility, but his career-best 35.6 percent strikeout rate -- which includes a 9:0 K:BB over that five-game stretch -- has allowed him to power through.

  • Sam Long RP | KC

Giants' Sam Long: Making spot start Saturday

Long will start Saturday's game versus the Dodgers, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

With Alex Cobb (neck) out, the Giants have elected to give Long a start rather than cobble together another bullpen game. Long will be on only three days' rest after his longest outing of the season Tuesday versus the Rockies (three innings), so it doesn't seem likely he'll qualify for the win. The southpaw has a 2.35 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 10:7 K:BB through 15.1 innings in 11 appearances (three starts) this year.

  • Jake Junis RP | TEX

Giants' Jakob Junis: Diagnosed with hamstring strain

Junis was diagnosed with a left hamstring strain after exiting Friday's game against the Dodgers in the top of the sixth inning, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Junis limped off the field after slipping on the mound in the top of the sixth inning, and he's dealing with a hamstring strain. The grade of the strain isn't yet clear, and the team hasn't revealed whether the right-hander will require a trip to the injured list. If he's able to make his next start, Junis tentatively lines up to take the mound at home against the Royals on Wednesday.

  • Jake Junis RP | TEX

Giants' Jakob Junis: Departs with injury

Junis was removed from Friday's game against the Dodgers in the top of the sixth inning due to an apparent left hamstring injury, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Junis slipped on the mound in the top of the sixth inning and appeared to be grabbing at his left hamstring as he limped off the field afterward. The right-hander threw 92 pitches (64 strikes) prior to his departure and allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five in five innings. The severity of his injury hasn't yet been revealed.

  • Shelby Miller RP | CHC

Giants' Shelby Miller: Signs minor-league deal with Giants

Miller signed a minor-league contract with the Giants on Wednesday.

Miller was let go by the Yankees last week but landed a minor-league deal with San Francisco a week later. The 31-year-old will report to Triple-A Sacramento to begin his time with his new organization.
