  • Padres' Adrian Morejon: Reinstated from injured list

Morejon (shoulder) was activated from the 15-day injured list Wednesday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Morejon has been out a few weeks with shoulder inflammation, but he'll rejoin San Diego's bullpen after a three-game rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso. The left-hander has covered only 4.2 frames for the Padres this year, but he could play a big role in the middle innings during the second half of the season.

  • Alex Colome RP | CHW

Rockies' Alex Colome: Not available Wednesday

Colome has a slight strain in the top of his right hamstring and is unavailable Wednesday against the Padres, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Colome was removed from Tuesday's win over the Padres due to his hamstring issue and will be unavailable for at least one game. He should tentatively be considered day-to-day.

  • Blake Treinen RP | LAD

Dodgers' Blake Treinen: Throws extended bullpen session

Treinen (shoulder) threw 36 pitches Wednesday in what the Dodgers described as a "touch and feel" bullpen session, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

The report doesn't indicate whether Treinen was able to use all of his pitches in the workout or just fastballs, but the right-hander's high pitch count is at least another sign that he's making progress from the right shoulder injury that has kept him sidelined since mid-April. The veteran reliever could soon be ready to face hitters, but don't expect to see him return from the 60-day injured list until August.

  • Angel Rondon RP | SF

Giants' Angel Rondon: Claimed by Giants

Rondon was claimed off waivers by the Giants on Wednesday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Rondon was designated for assignment by St. Louis last week but will find a spot on the Giants' 40-man roster. He's been optioned to Triple-A Sacramento to begin his time with his new organization. The right-hander posted a 4.04 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in 49 innings over 18 appearances (five starts) at Triple-A Memphis to begin the year.

  • Ethan Roberts RP | CHC

Cubs' Ethan Roberts: Undergoes successful surgery

Roberts (elbow) underwent successful Tommy John surgery Wednesday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Roberts sustained his right elbow injury during a rehab appearance at Triple-A Iowa in late June and will be unavailable for the remainder of the 2022 season and most or all of the 2023 campaign following Wednesday's procedure. The 25-year-old made his major-league debut in 2022 and posted an 8.22 ERA and 2.09 WHIP in 7.2 innings over nine relief appearances.

  • Daniel Norris RP | CLE

Cubs' Daniel Norris: Reinstated from 15-day IL

Norris (finger) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list Wednesday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Norris was on the injured list since June 23 but reported to Triple-A Iowa last week to begin a rehab assignment. He allowed ah unearned run on three hits and a walk while striking out five in three innings over his two rehab appearances and will rejoin the Cubs' bullpen ahead of Wednesday's series finale against the Orioles.

  • Drew VerHagen RP | STL

Cardinals' Drew VerHagen: Comes off IL

The Cardinals reinstated VerHagen (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

St. Louis optioned left-handed starter Matthew Liberatore to Triple-A Memphis to clear a spot on the active roster for VerHagen, who will be available in a multi-inning role out of the bullpen as he makes his way back from the IL. Before being sidelined with the right shoulder injury, VerHagen hadn't been particularly effective for St. Louis, pitching to a 6.30 ERA and 1.80 WHIP over his 17 appearances out of the bullpen.

  • Tanner Rainey RP | DET

Nationals' Tanner Rainey: Likely done for season

The Nationals placed Rainey on the 60-day injured list Wednesday due to a UCL sprain of his right elbow.

Washington hadn't disclosed that Rainey was dealing with any injury before the closer landed on the IL prior to the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader with Seattle. Given the nature of his injury along with the fact that he was shuttled to the 60-day IL rather than the 15-day IL, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com speculates that Rainey will require season-ending surgery. Whether it's Tommy John surgery or a different type of elbow procedure will determine Rainey's recovery timeline, but fantasy managers in redraft leagues can feel comfortable moving on from the 29-year-old right-hander. He recorded 12 saves and turned in a 3.30 ERA and 1.30 WHIP across 30 innings out of the bullpen this season.

  • Michael Kelly RP | ATH

Phillies' Michael Kelly: Moves back to minors

The Phillies optioned Kelly to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

In a corresponding move, the Phillies selected the contract of infielder Will Toffey from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Since Kelly worked an inning out of the bullpen in both of the past two days, he was unlikely to be available for Wednesday's series finale in Toronto.

  • Jake Reed RP | LAD

Dodgers' Jake Reed: Claimed by Dodgers

Reed was claimed off waivers by the Dodgers on Wednesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Reed was designated for assignment by the Mets on Sunday, but he quickly found a new home with the Dodgers just a few days later. The reliever has struggled to a 11.37 ERA and 1.58 WHIP with six strikeouts over 6.1 frames in five appearances this year with the Mets. He'll likely start with Triple-A Oklahoma City before potentially earning a call-up later this season.
