Rays RP Brad Boxberger gives up walk-off grand slam
Rays reliever Brad Boxberger surrendered the game-winning, walk-off hit to the Royals in Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader. Boxberger gave up a ninth-inning grand slam to Paulo Orlando, giving the Royals the 9-5 win. Boxberger took his fifth loss of the season.
Boxberger, who was just named to his first All-Star game on Monday, allowed three hits and a walk in this outing, as his ERA rose from 2.48 to 3.55.
"I spiked a fastball the first pitch [to Orlando], then a home run," Boxberger said, per MLB.com. "... [The changeup] just ran back into his bat. On a 1-0 count, I wouldn't expect him to be sitting on it, but he kind of was."
