Miles didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Yankees, allowing no runs on two hits and one walk in 4.1 innings of relief. He struck out six.

Working bulk relief for the Blue Jays on Thursday, Miles dazzled over 4.1 frames against a formidable Yankees lineup. The rookie right-hander fanned a season-high six during his longest outing of the campaign, flooding the zone for 47 strikes. Miles also saw his largest pitch count of the season (63 pitches), so he's getting closer to handling a traditional starter's workload. He could have some streaming appeal in his next scheduled appearance versus Miami, as Miles sports a 2.17 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 29:8 K:BB over 29 innings.

Gaddis picked up the save in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Tigers, allowing one hit while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.

With closer Cade Smith working the previous two days, it was Gaddis who was called upon to close out a two-run lead in the ninth Thursday. The right-hander worked around a two-out single to finish off Cleveland's four-game sweep of the Tigers while locking down his first save this season. Gaddis was shaky early in the year following a stint on the IL with forearm tightness, but he's turned things around of late, allowing just one run on five hits in his last seven appearances (6.1 innings). Overall, his ERA sits at 5.25 with a 1.75 WHIP and 10:6 K:BB across 12 innings this year.

Smith was not given the save opportunity in Thursday's 3-1 win over Tigers.

Smith remains locked in as Cleveland's closer, but he recorded saves each of the previous two games and was unavailable Thursday after burning 36 pitches in those contests. Hunter Gaddis worked around a hit while striking out two in picking up his first save of the season.

The Red Sox optioned Kelly to Triple-A Worcester on Thursday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Kelly had been solid out of the bullpen for Boston with a 3.31 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and a 14:7 K:BB through 17 appearances. The demotion is a mild surprise given that the right-hander had been great in his last 12 games with a 1.64 ERA and 11 strikeouts. He seems likely to get another look in the majors later this season.

The Red Sox will call up Guerrero from Triple-A Worcester prior to Friday's contest versus the Twins, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.

It's a story of perseverance for the 35-year-old Guerrero, who has not pitched in the big leagues since 2019. He's earned the promotion by collecting a 0.92 ERA and 22:6 K:BB over 19.2 innings while notching three saves with Worcester. It's unclear what the corresponding move will be in order to free up a roster spot for Guerrero.

Silseth (1-1) allowed an unearned run on a hit with two strikeouts and a walk over one inning to take the loss Wednesday against the A's.

Silseth entered in the 10th inning with the game tied at 5-5 and was unable to prevent the automatic runner from crossing the plate. Despite picking up his first loss, Silseth hasn't allowed an earned run since April 25, although he has a worrisome 1.42 WHIP and 6:5 K:BB over 6.1 innings during that span. His 2.16 ERA through 21 appearances this season is strong, but a 1.62 WHIP and 16:13 K:BB offer a less encouraging outlook.

Strahm received an injection Monday to help with symptoms of right knee inflammation, MLB.com reports.

Strahm was placed on the injured list Saturday after patellar tendinitis flared up during his outing Friday. While a formal recovery timeline hasn't been established, the southpaw plans to keep his arm in shape as much as possible while rehabbing his knee back to full strength. Before being shelved, Strahm logged 16.1 innings with a 3.86 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 17:7 K:BB in 2026.

Barlow (1-0) earned the win in Wednesday's 6-5 victory over the Angels. He allowed no hits or walks with a hit-by-pitch while striking out one over a scoreless inning.

Barlow was called upon in the ninth inning to keep the contest tied and send it to extra innings, a task he accomplished after working around a leadoff hit-by-pitch to Vaughn Grissom. Courtesy of an RBI single from Tyler Soderstrom and a scoreless 10th frame from Hogan Harris, Barlow was credited with his first win of the campaign. He hasn't factored much into the save equation after blowing his lone opportunity March 28, but the right-hander has still pitched to a 3.09 ERA and 0.86 WHIP across 23.1 innings. Walks have been an issue for the veteran over the past couple of seasons and flared up early in the current campaign, though he has posted a 9:1 K:BB across nine innings in May.

Yates was charged with a blown save after retiring two batters and allowing one run on one hit and one walk in Wednesday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Athletics.

Upon being activated May 5 following a season-opening stint on the injured list due to left knee inflammation, Yates was deployed in lower-leverage spots for each of his first four appearances with the Angels. After the veteran right-hander tossed a pair of clean innings while striking out four of the six batters he faced over his last two outings, manager Kurt Suzuki felt comfortable turning to Yates on Wednesday to protect a one-run lead in the top of the ninth inning. Yates immediately squandered the opportunity, serving up a leadoff home run to Jeff McNeil to tie the game. He was able to induce a groundout and then struck out Lawrence Butler, but Yates was pulled from the game after putting two more runners on via a walk and hit batsmen. Though the Angels' closer situation remains unsettled, Yates' poor showing Wednesday could hurt his case for seeing another save chance anytime soon.

Speier (shoulder) began a rehab assignment with High-A Everett on Wednesday, allowing three runs on three hits, including two home runs, over one inning. He struck out two.

It's not the result Speier was looking for in his first game action in three weeks, but he did notch a couple strikeouts. The Mariners have not revealed a target date for Speier's activation from the 15-day injured list, but as long as he bounces back well, he could join Seattle for the start of its road trip Friday.
