Interim manager John Schneider said Thursday that Pearson (lat) is building up to cover multiple innings before being activated from the injured list, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Pearson has been on the injured list for the entire 2022 campaign, initially due to a bout with mononucleosis and currently due to a lat strain. He started a rehab assignment in early September and pitched 1.1 frames in his last outing Wednesday with Triple-A Buffalo, and he'll continue building up his workload. It's unclear if Pearson will be ready to join the active roster before the end of the regular season.

Peralta (back) will be placed on the injured list with thoracic spine tightness Thursday, retroactive to Sept. 19, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Peralta struggled Sunday against the Brewers, giving up two runs on three hits while failing to record an out. The move is backdated to Monday, and the Yankees hope that the left-hander will be available for the team's final series of the regular season since his injury isn't considered particularly serious, Brendan Kuty of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

White (forearm) was reinstated from the 7-day injured list at Double-A Frisco on Thursday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

White landed on the injured list with forearm fatigue in late July, and he'll be eligible to pitch in Thursday's playoff game at Frisco. Although the right-hander was unavailable for the final few months of the minor-league regular season, he should be able to have a normal offseason program once the playoffs wrap up.

Herget was designated for assignment Thursday.

The move allows the Rays to add utilityman Miles Mastrobuoni to the 40-man roster. Herget gave up two earned runs with one strikeout in 2.2 innings over two appearances in September.

Effross (shoulder) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list prior to Thursday's game against the Red Sox.

The Yankees targeted Effross in a deadline deal with the Cubs, in which they sent out quality starting pitching prospect Hayden Wesneski, so he is a clear part of their high-leverage plans. Clay Holmes is currently heading a ninth-inning committee, and Effross could get a save or two over the final two weeks of the season.

Misiewicz (1-1) picked up the win Wednesday over the Twins. He struck out three and allowed a hit in 1.1 scoreless innings.

Starter Daniel Lynch lasted four innings, and Collin Snider worked the fifth, but it was Misiewicz who was awarded the win in a game the Royals led from the first inning on. Since his promotion from Triple-A Omaha on Aug. 24, he's posted a 5.79 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 15:2 K:BB across 9.1 innings. Misiewicz has been slightly better overall this season with a 5.09 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 23:8 K:BB through 23 innings between the Royals and the Mariners, but those ratios are unlikely to earn him anything more than low-leverage assignments.

Swanson (2-1) took the loss Wednesday against the Athletics. He allowed two runs on two hits and a walk without recording an out.

It was a disastrous outing for Swanson, who failed to record an out after he was called upon in the bottom of the seventh. He surrendered a leadoff walk to Jordan Diaz to begin the inning and then allowed back-to-back hits to put the Mariners down 2-0 before getting pulled. After not allowing a run through all of August, Swanson has now given up four runs in September but still sports a solid 1.49 ERA and 0.89 WHIP on the season.

Raley (1-2) allowed three earned runs on three hits across one inning to take the loss Wednesday against the Astros.

Raley entered the game with a one-run lead, but he allowed a three-run home run to Kyle Tucker to take the loss. Entering Wednesday's appearance, Raley had turned in 10 consecutive scoreless outings -- spanning 10.2 innings -- while also picking up six holds in that span. Despite the stumble, Raley has been excellent for the Rays this season with a 2.47 ERA and 0.92 WHIP across 51 frames.

Yarbrough is expected to serve as a bulk reliever behind opener JT Chargois in Thursday's game against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Since being called up from Triple-A Durham on Aug. 30, all three of Yarbrough's appearances have come out of the bullpen on days the Rays have deployed openers. In those outings, Yarbrough has gone 1-0 with an 0.84 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 6:3 K:BB in 10.2 innings. The Rays may continue to deploy him as a bulk reliever so long as the arrangement keeps yielding quality results.

Barlow picked up the save in Wednesday's 5-2 victory over the Twins, allowing one hit while striking out one over one inning.

Barlow has kept the opponent off the board in nine of his last 10 appearances and has not allowed an extra-base hit over 7.1 innings during his last seven outings. The righty has been stellar at home with a 1.57 ERA over 40 innings compared to a 3.38 ERA over 29.1 innings away from Kansas City.
