Vest will not require surgery, but he remains without a clear timetable for return after he was initially placed on the 15-day injured list due to right elbow inflammation July 1. It's been an ugly 2026 season for the right-hander, as he's posted a 6.08 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 27:10 K:BB across 26.2 innings. His 3.41 FIP would suggest he's been extremely unlucky.

Vest retired the last four New York hitters of the game on only 12 pitches to secure his second save of the season. Vest was tasked with working the top of the 10th inning, and he allowed the automatic runner on second to score on a couple of long fly ball outs but otherwise shut the door. The veteran reliever then earned the win when the Tigers answered with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.
