  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Not in Saturday's lineup

Moreno (hand) is not in the Diamondbacks' starting lineup against the Reds on Saturday.

Moreno took a wild pitch off his right hand in Friday's suspended game. The good news is that initial X-rays came back negative, but he will be out of the lineup for Saturday's contest while Jose Herrera serves behind home plate and bats ninth.

  • Pirates' Brett Sullivan: Promoted to majors

The Pirates selected Sullivan's contract from Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday.

With Endy Rodriguez (elbow) placed on the 10-day injured list and Joey Bart still in the concussion protocol, Sullivan will be brought up to serve as the Pirates' backup catcher behind Henry Davis. Sullivan was acquired by the Pirates in April from the Padres, and he has a .211/.350/.324 with two steals, one home run and 10 RBI across 76 plate appearances with Indianapolis.

  • Carson Kelly C | CHC

Cubs' Carson Kelly: Not in lineup

Kelly is not in the Cubs' starting lineup against the Tigers on Saturday.

Kelly will get a breather after going 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Friday's 3-1 loss to Detroit. Reese McGuire will serve behind home plate and bat ninth while forming a battery with Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon.

  • Henry Davis C | PIT

Pirates' Henry Davis: Homers in Friday's win

Davis went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 5-4 win over the Phillies.

The backstop entered the game in the top of the second inning after Endy Rodriguez injured his elbow throwing the ball to second base during warmups, and Davis took advantage of the opportunity by lofting an Alan Rangel slider down the left-field line and just over the wall in the fourth inning. Davis' bat began to wake up in late May, and over his last 10 games he's batting .258 (8-for-31) with two doubles, two homers, four runs and six RBI. With Joey Bart (concussion) still on the shelf and Rodriguez potentially headed back to the IL as well, Davis could be in line for a heavy workload in the short term.

  • Pedro Pages C | STL

Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Smacks two-run shot

Pages went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer and an additional run scored in Friday's 5-0 win over the Dodgers.

Pages put the Cardinals on the board in the second inning when he took Justin Wrobleski deep to left field for a 422-foot, two-run home run. Pages has struggled at the plate over his last 12 games (5-for-30), but he has logged three home runs and six RBI over that span.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: X-rays negative

X-rays on Moreno's hand came back negative after he was taken out of Friday's game versus Cincinnati, Jose M. Romero of The Arizona Republic reports.

Moreno exited Friday's contest early after taking a wild pitch off his right hand, though he managed to escape the incident with just a bit of swelling. His availability going forward will depend on how swollen his hand is, so Jose Herrera may need to take over at catcher for a few days.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Exits with hand injury

Moreno was removed from Friday's game against the Reds due to a hand injury, Jack Sommers of SI.com reports.

A wild pitch connected with Moreno's right (throwing) hand in the sixth inning of Friday's contest, leaving him unable to grip a baseball. The D-backs haven't announced any details regarding the severity of his injury, though Jose Herrera could be in line for a start or two behind the dish if Moreno's hand continues to bother him.

  • Braves' Drake Baldwin: On bench Friday

Baldwin is out of the lineup for Friday's game against San Francisco.

Baldwin and Sean Murphy continue to alternate starts behind the dish, a trend that goes back eight games. Baldwin is in a bit of a rut, having just three hits in his last 23 at-bats. However, two of those hits were home runs.

  • Elias Diaz C | SD

Padres' Elias Diaz: Not starting Friday

Diaz is not in the Padres' starting lineup against the Brewers on Friday.

Diaz will be idle for a second straight game while Martin Maldonado will serve behind home plate and bat ninth. Diaz has gone 3-for-24 with two runs, two RBI and eight strikeouts over his last 10 games.

  • Will Smith C | LAD

Dodgers' Will Smith: On bench Friday

Smith is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Cardinals.

Smith will yield to Dalton Rushing behind the plate Friday for the third time in five games. Smith is slashing .337/.442/.488 with two homers and a 16:12 BB:K in 26 games since the start of May.
