  • Eugenio Suarez 3B | CIN

Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Receives first day off of season

Suarez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

The Diamondbacks haven't indicated that Suarez is nursing any sort of injury in the aftermath of Saturday's 4-2 win, so the veteran third baseman is likely just getting a maintenance day. Jace Peterson will step in at the hot corner while Suarez rests for the first time in 2024 after starting at third base in each of Arizona's first 15 games while hitting .259 with two home runs and 12 RBI.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Homers in three-hit game

Westburg went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 11-5 loss to the Brewers.

Westburg gave the Orioles a 3-0 lead in the first inning with his third homer of the campaign. He's posted three multi-hit efforts over his last six games. The infielder has hit well to maintain a starting role, batting .261 with an .855 OPS, 10 RBI, eight runs scored, two stolen bases and three doubles through 52 plate appearances.

  • Rays' Junior Caminero: Returns from Triple-A IL

Triple-A Durham reinstated Caminero (quadricep) from its 7-day injured list ahead of Sunday's game against Lehigh Valley.

Caminero will make his return to the Triple-A lineup for the first time since March 31 after he injured his left quad in Durham's season-opening series. Before getting hurt, Caminero went 4-for-12 with a home run, two walks and one stolen base in three games with Durham. The 20-year-old will play on an everyday basis for Durham and will likely be the top option for a promotion if the Rays lose one of their regular infielders for any length of time down the road.

  • Brett Baty 3B | NYM

Mets' Brett Baty: Gets Sunday off

Baty is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

With a tough lefty (Cole Ragans) on the bump for Kansas City, the lefty-hitting Baty will give way to Zack Short at third base. Baty will rest for the first time since March 30 after he saw his seven-game hit streak come to an end with an 0-for-4 showing in Saturday's 11-7 loss.

  • Luis Urias 2B | ATH

Mariners' Luis Urias: Laces timely double Saturday

Urias went 1-for-2 with an RBI double in a loss to the Cubs on Saturday.

The offseason addition opened the game at third base and was able to contribute the only run of the game for the Mariners with his second-inning two-bagger that knotted the score at 1-1. His success Saturday notwithstanding, Urias is still scuffling overall with a .174 average and .296 on-base percentage; however, he also carries a .435 slugging percentage thanks to all four of his knocks to date having gone for extra bases.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Absence continues Sunday

Bregman (illness) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Bregman will sit for the third consecutive game as he continues to deal with an illness. According to Chandler Rome of The Athletic, Bregman was able to participate in baseball activities during a pregame workout, so he could be available off the bench and may be ready to return to the lineup Monday versus Atlanta. Mauricio Dubon will spell him at third base Sunday.

  • Joseph Ortiz 2B | MIL

Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Playing time on upswing

Ortiz will start at third base and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Orioles.

Ortiz will pick up his third start in four games at third base, with the lefty-hitting Oliver Dunn having drawn just one start during that span. Notably, the Brewers have faced four right-handed pitchers over that stretch, so the righty-hitting Ortiz could be moving into a full-time role after he initially looked to be a short-side platoon player for Milwaukee. Ortiz is slashing .333/.438/.444 through his first 32 plate appearances with the Brewers this season.

  • Oliver Dunn 2B | CHW

Brewers' Oliver Dunn: Losing work to Ortiz

Dunn is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.

Dunn is on the bench for the third time in four games, with all of his absences coming against right-handed pitching. The rookie looked to have gained traction as the Brewers' everyday third baseman after getting on base at a .400 clip through his first seven big-league games, but he's starting to lose playing time to Joey Ortiz after going 2-for-13 with six strikeouts over his past three contests.

  • Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Sent to minors

The Brewers optioned Monasterio to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.

The 26-year-old has just nine plate appearances through the first couple weeks of the season, so he'll head to Triple-A with Milwaukee in need of outfield depth while Christian Yelich (back) is banged up. Monasterio will be a top candidate to rejoin the Brewers when infield depth is needed.

  • Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Knocks key homer Saturday

Cabrera went 2-for-8 with a home run, a double, a walk and three total RBI in Saturday's doubleheader sweep of the Guardians.

Cabrera had the Yankees' biggest hit in Game 1 of the twin bill, swatting a two-run homer in the sixth inning that proved key in a narrow 3-2 victory. The third baseman added a run-scoring double in the nightcap to round out a productive day. Cabrera has reached base safely via hit or walk in all but one of his 11 contests so far this season and is slashing .317/.378/.585 with three homers, 11 RBI and eight runs through 45 plate appearances.
