  • Gage Workman 3B | SD

Padres' Gage Workman: Joins big club

The Padres added Workman to the 26-man active roster ahead of Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Workman had been playing at Triple-A Toledo since the beginning of June, but he'll open his time in the Padres organization with the big club after he was acquired from the Tigers on Monday. The 26-year-old has seen time at second base, third base, shortstop and both corner-outfield spots between his stops in the majors and minors this season, so he'll offer the Padres some versatility off the bench.

  • Bo Bichette 3B | NYM

Mets' Bo Bichette: Finally goes yard

Bichette went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during the Mets' 6-2 win over the Guardians on Tuesday.

Bichette extended the Mets' lead to 4-0 in the third inning with a solo homer off Joey Cantillo. It was the 11th long ball of the season for Bichette but his first since June 24 against the Cubs. His slash line has taken a notable dip in his first year with the Mets, and since the All-Star break, he has a .261 batting average with three RBI in 74 plate appearances.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Giants' Matt Chapman: May not return this season

Chapman (abdomen) is scheduled to be evaluated by a specialist next week, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

MRI imaging confirmed Monday that Chapman suffered a core muscle injury, and manager Tony Vitello said Tuesday that the veteran third baseman may require surgery, per delos Santos. A timeline for Chapman's return will likely emerge following his doctor's visit, but he could be lost for the season if he goes under the knife.

  • Nick Yorke 3B | PIT

Pirates' Nick Yorke: Beginning rehab assignment

Yorke (shoulder) is beginning a rehab assignment with Single-A Bradenton on Tuesday, Dominic Campbell of SI.com reports.

Yorke is currently on the Triple-A injured list and hasn't played since June 17 due to a shoulder issue. The 24-year-old opened the season with the Pirates but slashed just .197/.279/.276 with four extra-base hits, six RBI, six runs scored and a 7:17 BB:K across 86 trips to the plate before being demoted.

  • Mariners' Brendan Donovan: Activated and starting Tuesday

Donovan (groin) was activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday and is starting at third base versus the Tigers, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

As expected, Donovan is back Tuesday after a left groin strain kept him out since mid-May. The infielder should find work at the hot corner with J.P. Crawford on the 10-day injured list due to a wrist injury. The Mariners also activated Taylor Ward and recalled Jhonny Pereda from Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday. In corresponding moves, the Mariners released Rob Refsnyder and Mitch Garver, and they designated Stuart Fairchild for assignment.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | STL

Cardinals' Ramon Urias: Restarting rehab assignment

Urias (elbows) has been sent to Triple-A Memphis to resume a rehab assignment, John Denton of Roundtable.io reports.

Urias had to be pulled off his initial rehab assignment a little over a week ago after being hit on the elbow by a pitch. He's been out since early May with tennis elbow in both arms but could return before the end of the month if he can avoid another setback.

  • Max Muncy 3B | ATH

Athletics' Max Muncy: Rejoins big club

The A's recalled Muncy from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old was optioned to Triple-A in late July and is now back in the majors with Nick Kurtz (thumb) landing on the injured list. Muncy has a .687 OPS and a 34.3 percent strikeout rate in 48 games this season and is likely to serve as a reserve infielder while up with the big club.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Nursing sore left hand

Ramirez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets due to soreness in his left hand, Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Ramirez underwent surgery on the same hand in mid-June to repair a hamate fracture, though it's unclear if the soreness is related to that injury. The veteran third baseman has been struggling at the plate lately with a .478 OPS since the All-Star break. He should be considered day-to-day until the team updates his status.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Taking seat Tuesday

Ramirez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets.

The All-Star third baseman started the previous eight games and will receive a day off after batting .182 (6-for-33) during that stretch. Gabriel Arias will fill in at the hot corner Tuesday while Ramirez takes a day to reset.

  • Cesar Prieto 3B | STL

Cardinals' Cesar Prieto: Summoned from minors

The Cardinals recalled Prieto from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Prieto is grabbing the roster spot vacated by Lars Nootbaar, who was traded to the Diamondbacks on Monday. The 27-year-old Prieto has slashed .307/.373/.517 with 12 homers in 2026 at Memphis but has gone just 1-for-23 in his brief chances at the major-league level the last two seasons. He'll likely be used primarily off the bench.
