  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Nursing sore left hand

Ramirez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets due to soreness in his left hand, Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Ramirez underwent surgery on the same hand in mid-June to repair a hamate fracture, though it's unclear if the soreness is related to that injury. The veteran third baseman has been struggling at the plate lately with a .478 OPS since the All-Star break. He should be considered day-to-day until the team updates his status.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Taking seat Tuesday

Ramirez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets.

The All-Star third baseman started the previous eight games and will receive a day off after batting .182 (6-for-33) during that stretch. Gabriel Arias will fill in at the hot corner Tuesday while Ramirez takes a day to reset.

  • Cesar Prieto 3B | STL

Cardinals' Cesar Prieto: Summoned from minors

The Cardinals recalled Prieto from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Prieto is grabbing the roster spot vacated by Lars Nootbaar, who was traded to the Diamondbacks on Monday. The 27-year-old Prieto has slashed .307/.373/.517 with 12 homers in 2026 at Memphis but has gone just 1-for-23 in his brief chances at the major-league level the last two seasons. He'll likely be used primarily off the bench.

  • Rays' Junior Caminero: Blasts two homers Monday

Caminero went 2-for-5 with two homers, three total RBI and an additional run scored in Monday's 13-9 win over the Rockies.

Caminero showed off his power, lifting a 422-foot two-run homer in the first inning before adding a 442-foot solo blast in the fourth frame. Monday marked the 23-year-old's third multi-homer game of the season and first since June 25. The superstar third baseman is slashing .283/.373/.557 with 32 homers, 69 RBI, 69 runs and two stolen bases across 112 games.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Resting up against lefty

Muncy is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs.

The Dodgers will hand the left-handed-hitting Muncy a night off while southpaw Matthew Boyd toes the rubber for the Cubs. Enrique Hernandez will fill in for Muncy at third base and will bat eighth.

  • Blaze Jordan 3B | STL

Cardinals' Blaze Jordan: On bench Monday

Jordan is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees.

Jordan will hit the bench for the series opener while Jose Fermin picks up a start at third base. Since the All-Star break, Jordan has produced a .245/.275/.347 slash line with no home runs or stolen bases, eight RBI and three runs in 14 games.

  • Gage Workman 3B | SD

Padres' Gage Workman: Sent to San Diego

San Diego acquired Workman and right-hander Casey Mize from Detroit on Monday in exchange for left-handers Kash Mayfield and Jackson Wolf, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Workman will join the fourth organization of his career after stops with the Tigers, Cubs and White Sox. The 26-year-old was added to the Tigers' 40-man roster May 10 and struggled in his brief time in the majors earlier this season, batting just .158 while striking out in 16 of 38 plate appearances. Workman has been productive at Triple-A Toledo, however, posting an .868 OPS with 11 home runs and 20 steals in 82 games. The Padres haven't indicated if he'll head to Triple-A El Paso or report to the big club, where he could be a valuable bench piece due to his ability to play all three outfield spots and multiple infield positions.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Resumes running Monday

Jung (calf) did some running Monday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Jung's recovery from a left calf strain has come along more slowly than expected, but he took a big step forward Monday. The third baseman will continue to ramp up his running progression as long as he doesn't experience any setbacks. Jung has been sidelined for nearly two weeks, and it's uncertain whether he'll need some rehab games before being reinstated.

  • Jonathon Long 3B | MIA

Marlins' Jonathon Long: Dealt in package for Garrett

The Marlins acquired Long and right-hander Jace Beck from the Cubs on Monday in exchange for left-hander Braxton Garrett, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Long had been blocked off at the Triple-A level while in the Cubs organization for the past couple seasons, but he's also seen a decline in his performance (108 wRC+) in 2026 compared to 2025 (131 wRC+). A righty-hitting first baseman and left fielder, Long is slashing .283/.364/.455 with 12 home runs and a 21.2 percent strikeout rate in 99 games as a 24-year-old.

  • Angels' Nacho Alvarez: Moving to Anaheim

The Angels acquired Alvarez from Atlanta on Monday in exchange for left-hander Brent Suter, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Alvarez produced a .626 OPS over 208 plate appearances and made 63 starts for Atlanta in 2025, but he has yet to see big-league action in 2026 while second baseman Ozzie Albies and third baseman Austin Riley have both remained healthy throughout the campaign. The 23-year-old Alvarez had been playing exclusively at the hot corner at Triple-A Gwinnett this season, slashing .236/.337/.326 with two home runs and four stolen bases in 37 games before landing on the injured list in late May due to an undisclosed issue. The severity of Alvarez's injury remains unclear, but assuming he's not dealing with a season-ending issue, he could be cleared to make his organizational debut at Triple-A Salt Lake within the next few weeks.
