  • Luis Rengifo 3B | LAA

Angels' Luis Rengifo: Absent from lineup

Rengifo is not in the lineup for Monday's game versus the Athletics.

Rengifo is stuck in a season-long slump and has been particularly brutal at the plate lately, going 3-for-30 over his last nine contests. Kevin Newman will hold down third base and bat ninth in Monday's series opener.

  • Eric Wagaman 1B | MIA

    Marlins' Eric Wagaman: Sitting Monday

Wagaman is not in the Marlins' starting lineup against the Pirates on Monday, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.

Wagaman will take a seat after going 0-for-9 with four strikeouts over his last two games. Liam Hicks will start at first base while Heriberto Hernandez serves as the designated hitter and bat ninth.

  • Twins' Ryan Fitzgerald: On IL with sprained ankle

Triple-A St. Paul placed Fitzgerald on its 7-day injured list Sunday due to a right ankle sprain.

Fitzgerald was hitting just .159 with a .525 OPS in 12 games since he returned to Triple-A from his brief time in the majors. He's hitting .284/.378/.467 with five home runs overall in 47 games at Triple-A.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Remains hot with homer Sunday

Machado went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in a 1-0 win against the Brewers on Sunday.

Machado accounted for the only run by either team with his 425-foot solo blast in the seventh inning. The star third baseman has found his power stroke of late, clubbing three homers over his past four games and seven across his past 16 contests. Machado is also in the midst of a six-game hitting streak during which he's posted a 1.352 OPS with six RBI.

  • Brett Baty 3B | NYM

Mets' Brett Baty: Launches seventh homer

Baty went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's win over the Rockies.

The 25-year-old infielder took Seth Halvorsen deep in the seventh inning, snapping a 14-game homer drought for Baty and giving him seven long balls on the season. While he continues to see regular playing time at third base with Mark Vientos (hamstring) on the shelf while also spelling Jeff McNeil at second base, Baty's bat has cooled down and he's batting just .143 (4-for-28) to begin the month of June. If he doesn't heat up, Ronny Mauricio could begin to steal starts away from Baty.

  • Brett Harris 3B | ATH

Athletics' Brett Harris: Returns from IL

Harris (undisclosed) went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored Saturday in his return to the Triple-A Las Vegas lineup after being activated from the 7-day injured list Friday.

Harris had been out of action at Las Vegas for nearly two months before making his return from the shelf. The 26-year-old third baseman is slashing .382/.462/.636 with three home runs and three stolen bases in 65 plate appearances at Las Vegas for the season and could merit consideration for a promotion to the Athletics if he can maintain a good run of health.

  • Braves' Nacho Alvarez: Ready for rehab assignment

Atlanta sent Alvarez (wrist) to its rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate Monday to begin a rehab assignment.

Alvarez has endured a long recovery process since he was diagnosed with left wrist inflammation all the way back in late February. He's finally been cleared for game action, and the 22-year-old seems like a good bet to be optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett rather than added to the major-league roster once he's activated from the 60-day injured list.

  • Otto Kemp 3B | PHI

Phillies' Otto Kemp: Makes second straight start at 3B

Kemp went 0-for-2 with a walk and was caught stealing in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Pirates.

Kemp has started at third base in both of the Phillies' games since he was called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday, but he's still looking for his first MLB hit, having gone 0-for-5 with three strikeouts between those two contests. With Alec Bohm shifting over to first base after Bryce Harper (wrist) was placed on the injured list, Kemp could have an opportunity to play regularly while he's up with the big club, though he may have to fend off Edmundo Sosa for playing time in the infield. The 25-year-old Kemp posted a 1.010 OPS and 11 steals in 58 games for Lehigh Valley this season and had an .881 OPS in 123 games across four levels of the minors in 2024, though he's been old for his level throughout his minor-league career.

  • Miguel Vargas 2B | CHW

White Sox's Miguel Vargas: Homers in loss

Vargas went 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and three RBI in Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Royals.

Vargas gave the White Sox an early lead with a two-run homer in the first inning and later added an RBI with a bases-loaded walk in the ninth. The long ball was his first in eight June games, during which he's gone just 5-for-24 at the plate. On the season, the 25-year-old is slashing .237/.319/.421 with nine home runs, 29 RBI, 30 runs scored and one stolen base across 257 plate appearances.

  • Ronny Mauricio 2B | NYM

Mets' Ronny Mauricio: Swipes bag in win

Mauricio went 2-for-3 with two walks, two runs scored and a stolen base in Sunday's 13-5 win over the Rockies.

Mauricio contributed offensively throughout the game and has now stolen a base in back-to-back contests. After going 0-for-8 against the Dodgers, the 24-year-old tallied five hits over the weekend at Coors Field. Through five games this season, he's hitting .263 with a solo home run, a double, two steals and four runs scored across 21 plate appearances.
