  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

    Phillies' Jean Segura: Out Tuesday

Segura (heel) isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Tigers.

Segura was forced to leave Sunday's matchup with Pittsburgh due to a heel injury, and the issue is significant enough to keep him out of Tuesday's starting nine. He'll be considered day-to-day moving forward and is unlikely to be used off the bench in the series opener, per Todd Zolecki of MLB.com. With Segura out of the mix, Scott Kingery is set to start at shortstop.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Playing through pain

Arenado said Monday that he's been feeling banged up lately, but he doesn't believe he'll need to sit out any games in order to heal up, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. "Every day I've felt better this year, body-wise, I've hit a ball off my leg or something," Arenado said. "The first game in New York [Friday], I felt great. I said, 'My body feels good [Monday]. I'm responding well.' Then against J.A. Happ, I hit a cutter right into my shin, and then my leg was killing me. It feels like there's always something going on."

The Rockies had their series opener in Washington postponed Monday on account of rain, and the unexpected day off may have been beneficial to Arenado more than just about anyone else. As the third baseman noted, he's been bruised and banged up over the last week, fouling a ball off his left shin and getting drilled on the left hand by a pitch during that time. While Arenado hasn't missed any time, his decision to play through the pain may explain in some part why he's gone 9-for-35 at the dish in his 10 games since the All-Star break. He'll hope that the time off he received Monday will allow him to get back on track when the two teams return to action Tuesday.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Takes part in fielding drills

Longoria (foot) was spotted on the field Monday taking part in fielding drills, the Associated Press reports.

Longoria, who is recovering from a bout of plantar fasciitis in his left foot, also played catch as part of the workout. The Giants remain vague on a target return date for Longoria, though the veteran third baseman is hopeful he'll be ready to come off the 10-day injured list by late July or early August.

  • Yadiel Rivera 3B | MIL

Marlins' Yadiel Rivera: Makes second straight start at SS

Rivera went 1-for-3 in Monday's loss to the White Sox.

With Miguel Rojas (shoulder) and JT Riddle (forearm) both sidelined, Rivera is all the Marlins have left at shortstop, and the 27-year-old has gone 1-for-7 while starting the last two games. Rojas may not be out for long, but until he's cleared to return, Rivera and his .478 career OPS will remain in the lineup.

  • Diamondbacks' Eduardo Escobar: Notches two triples

Escobar started at second base and went 2-for-4 with a walk, two triples, an RBI and two runs scored in Monday's win over the Orioles.

Escobar has tripled three times in the last four games, giving him nine for the season, tied for most in MLB with Whit Merrifield and Adalberto Mondesi. He's been getting regular duty at second base lately despite the return of Wilmer Flores, who will see action whenever a left-hander is on the mound. Monday's start was Escobar's 12th at the keystone.

  • Eugenio Suarez 3B | CIN

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Goes deep twice

Suarez went 2-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI in a 6-5 win over the Brewers on Monday.

Suarez hit a two-run home run on the first pitch in his fourth at-bat and played hero with another two-run blast in the ninth inning that put the Reds ahead for good. Suarez continues to mash in July, posting a .263/.343/.684 slash line with nine home runs.

  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

Reds' Nick Senzel: Returns to lineup

Senzel (hamstring) is back in action Monday against the Brewers.

Senzel has been out of the lineup for three straight games but appeared off the bench in both games over the weekend. He'll return to center field and bat leadoff Monday.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Braves' Josh Donaldson: Bashes 23rd home run

Donaldson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's victory over Washington.

Donaldson swatted a 432-foot home run to left field in the sixth inning, then singled in another run in the seventh. The impressive outing continued Donaldson's productive July in which he has compiled a 1.221 OPS along with eight homers and 18 runs batted in. After a pair of injury-plagued seasons, the 33-year-old has enjoyed a resurgent 2019, slashing .256/.374/.521 with 23 homers and 58 RBI in 340 at-bats.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Homers in win over Marlins

Muncy went 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored and a walk during Sunday's 9-0 win over the Marlins.

Muncy gave his club an early lead with a two-run home run to left center in the first inning. He later walked and scored a run, giving him his fourth multi-run effort in the last six games. Muncy also has three home runs to go along with six RBI during that span. The Dodgers head into their next series at home against the Angels.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Phillies' Jean Segura: Exits Sunday's game

Segura was removed from Sunday's contest against the Pirates with heel soreness, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports.

The injury was likely an aggravation of the heel injury Segura suffered July 15. He was forced to miss two games prior to returning for the team's series finale Thursday against the Dodgers. Scott Kingery shifted to shortstop to replace Segura while Nick Williams entered the game to play left field.
