McMahon is not in the lineup Thursday afternoon against the Brewers.

Mike Moustakas is playing third base and hitting fifth versus the Brewers and left-hander Wade Miley. Alan Trejo is at second base and batting sixth. McMahon has slashed just .200/.222/.371 in 36 plate appearances this year versus southpaws.

Castro is out of the lineup Thursday afternoon against the Rays, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

This looks to be a planned day of rest for Castro, who has posted a strong .274/.374/.440 batting line through 99 plate appearances this season for the NL Central-leading Pirates. Tucupita Marcano will cover shortstop and bat leadoff versus the Rays and righty Zach Eflin.

Baty is not in the lineup Thursday against the Tigers.

Eduardo Escobar will play third base and bat eighth with left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez on the mound for Detroit. Baty has seen more action against lefties over the last week or so, but he'll grab a bit of rest as the Mets wrap up this three-game set at Comerica Park.

Riley went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 14-6 win over the Marlins.

Atlanta slugged six homers on the night, with Riley adding to the fireworks in the fifth inning on a Devin Smeltzer changeup. The streaky third baseman has been in a cold stretch lately, batting .143 (6-for-42) over his last 11 games, but Riley's still managed to go deep twice during that time. On the season, he's slashing .239/.331/.427 with six homers and 18 RBI in 31 contests.

Muncy went 1-for-5 with a grand slam in Wednesday's win over the Phillies.

Muncy came up with the bases loaded against Craig Kimbrel in the bottom of the ninth and promptly unloaded them with one swing, giving the Dodgers a 10-6 win and a sweep of the Phillies. The grand slam was Muncy's 12th home run this season, putting him back atop the league leaderboard. The 32-year-old infielder's OPS is up to 1.039 through 118 plate appearances. He's added 27 RBI, 22 runs scored and a stolen base.

Anderson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

Anderson has gone through a bit of a funk over the last four games while going 1-for-15 in that timeframe, and he'll get a night on the bench at least partially in response. Mike Brosseau is hitting cleanup while playing third base, and Tyrone Taylor is hitting seventh as the right fielder.

The Nationals activated Vargas (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Vargas went on the injured list April 11 after going 1-for-12 to begin the season. A depth infielder, the 31-year-old will likely see only sporadic playing time.

Machado is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Machado appears to be receiving a routine day off. The Padres will shift Ha-Seong Kim over to third base and give Rougned Odor a start at second base while Machado sits.

Wisdom went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Nationals.

Wisdom also struck out twice and left five runners on base, but fantasy managers are most interested in the long ball, which was his 11th of the season. That's tied for the MLB lead with Max Muncy and Pete Alonso, and the 31-year-old could be on his way to surpassing his career high of 28 home runs, which he hit back in 2021.

Busch went 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs and a stolen base against the Phillies in a 13-4 win Monday.

Busch got the start at second base Monday after three consecutive days on the bench. He made the most of the opportunity, recording his first career multi-hit performance and stealing his first bag as a major-leaguer. Busch is still finding his way in the big leagues, as he's batting just .214 with seven strikeouts in 16 plate appearances.
