Astros' Alex Bregman: Garners hit, walk in return
Bregman went 1-for-3 with a walk in Tuesday's 4-0 loss to Seattle.
Bregman returned to the lineup after resting Monday. He was given an off day after playing four consecutive games fresh off off the injured list. There could be more random down time in the next week for Bregman, who missed more than two months with a quadriceps injury.

Mariners' Abraham Toro: Slugs grand slam
Toro went 2-for-3 with a grand slam and a walk in a 4-0 shutout of the Astros on Tuesday.
Toro reached base three times Tuesday, walking in the first inning, singling in the fourth and smashing a tie-breaking grand slam to right center in the eighth. Interestingly enough, the long ball came against Houston reliever Kendall Graveman, the player Seattle traded to Houston for Toro back in July. It was the infielder's first home run since Aug. 3, after he hit three in his first seven games with the Mariners.

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Scores twice Monday
LeMahieu went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 8-7 loss to the Twins.
LeMahieu doubled to lead off the game and quickly scored after Anthony Rizzo doubled right after him. The 32-year-old LeMahieu would later notch an RBI base hit in the fifth and eventually come around to score for his second time of the night. LeMahieu has finished in the top three of the league in batting average in each of the past two seasons and has hit the ball remarkably well since coming over to the Yankees in 2019. He hasn't been quite as effective this year, slashing .265/.347/.367 with 32 extra-base hits, 52 RBI, 67 runs scored, four steals and 60:82 BB:K over 565 plate appearances.

Astros' Alex Bregman: Monday's rest part of plan
Houston manager Dusty Baker said Bregman's rest day Monday was part of a buildup plan for the infielder, who recently returned from a lengthy stay on the injured list due to a strained left quadriceps, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
It was probably assumed Bregman's absence was benign after he started four consecutive games since coming off the injured list, but Baker confirmed that it was part of a designed plan. As such, Bregman could be on this plan for a stretch, so be prepared for more off-days coming. The Astros want to prepare Bregman for a a 17-game/17-day stretch coming up in September.

Twins' Josh Donaldson: Launches two-run shot
Donaldson went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and a double in Monday's 3-2 win over the Tigers.
Donaldson provided most of the offense Monday with his two-run blast off Casey Mize in the fourth inning. The veteran slugger is on fire over the last seven games, going 11-for-25 (.440) with four homers, three doubles and eight RBI. For the season, Donaldson is slashing .259/.360/.494 with 40 extra-base hits

Bregman will sit Monday against the Mariners, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Bregman made four consecutive starts after returning from the injured list Wednesday, going 5-for-14 at the plate in his first big-league game action in over two months. He'll get a rest Monday, with Aledmys Diaz starting at third base.

Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Blasts two more homers
Devers went 2-for-5 with a pair of solo home runs in Sunday's 7-5 loss to Cleveland.
The third baseman went deep in the first and seventh innings to account for Boston's first and last runs of the contest. Devers has been solid at the plate lately with four multi-hit efforts in his last seven games. He's slashing .277/.352/.556 with 32 homers, 96 RBI, 82 runs scored and four stolen bases across 534 plate appearances.

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Blasts 31st homer
Ramirez went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, a walk and two RBI in Sunday's 7-5 win over Boston.
The third baseman sparked Cleveland's comeback effort with a solo shot in the sixth inning. Ramirez added an RBI double to get the team within a run in the seventh. Sunday was his third multi-hit effort in his last four games, a span in which he has two homers, a double, five RBI and six runs scored. For the season, the 28-year-old is slashing .263/.349/.555 with 31 long balls, 84 RBI, 87 runs scored and 19 stolen bases across 501 plate appearances.

Athletics' Matt Chapman: Goes yard again Saturday
Chapman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a win over the Yankees on Saturday.
The third baseman's 403-foot shot to center field in the fourth inning proved to be the difference in the contest after Aaron Judge got the Yankees to within one with a two-run blast of his own in the ninth. Chapman has now homered twice in the past three games, and he's left the yard a total of seven times in August while posting an impressive .273/.407/.606 slash line across 81 plate appearances (21 games).

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Resting Sunday
Moncada is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.
Moncada will take a seat for the series finale after he went 2-for-4 in Saturday's 7-0 loss, extending his hitting streak to a season-high 14 games in the process. Jake Lamb will step in at third base for Moncada, who is slashing .258/.359/.360 with two home runs and a stolen base in August.
