Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Out with quad tightness

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said LeMahieu is out of the lineup for Wednesday's tilt against the Guardians due to quadricep tightness, Brendan Kuty of The Athletic reports.

LeMahieu initially looked like he was getting a day off Wednesday for routine maintenance, but Boone clarified that the infielder is day-to-day with an injury. Isiah Kiner-Falefa gets the start at the hot corner Wednesday, and he'll likely see the bulk of the reps at third base if LeMahieu misses additional contests.

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: On bench Wednesday

LeMahieu is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Guardians, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.

LeMahieu will take a seat after he went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs scored in Tuesday's victory. Isiah Kiner-Falefa will take over at third base and bat seventh against Cleveland.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Blue Jays' Matt Chapman: Blasts third homer

Chapman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 9-3 win over the Tigers.

The third baseman continues his assault on big-league pitching, reeling off his third straight multi-hit performance and seventh in 11 games to begin the season. Chapman's fourth-inning homer off Matt Manning (foot) was his third of the season, and his AL-leading .477 batting average (21-for-44) also comes with seven doubles, nine runs and 15 RBI.

  • Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU

Rays' Isaac Paredes: Slugs third homer

Paredes went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 7-2 win over the Red Sox.

His fourth-inning blast off Garrett Whitlock was the first of four Rays homers on the night. Paredes has emerged as a consistent starter for Tampa Bay in the early going rather than a utility player, and through 11 games he's batting an impressive .314 (11-for-35) with three homers and 10 RBI.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Returns to lineup

Jung went 2-for-3 with two walks, a double and two runs scored in Tuesday's 8-5 extra-inning win over the Royals.

Jung was back at third base after getting a day off Monday. The 25-year-old has hit safely in seven of 10 games while posting a .263/.333/.474 line with two home runs, two doubles, five RBI and seven runs. Third base was a black hole for the Rangers in 2022, but that has not been the case early on this season.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Doubles and homers

Bregman went 2-for-5 with a double and a solo home run in Tuesday's 7-4 loss to Pittsburgh.

Bregman has struggled for the first week-plus of the season but he didn't have any issues Tuesday. He blasted a solo homer off Mitch Keller two batters into the game, the first round tripper of the season for the third baseman. Even with the pair of extra-base hits, Bregman is slashing just .188/.316/.271 on the young season, but history tells us those numbers should rise considerably as the season progresses.

  • Nick Maton DH | CHW

Tigers' Nick Maton: Provides offense Tuesday

Maton went 1-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run in Tuesday's loss to the Blue Jays.

Maton provided all the offense for the Tigers in the 9-3 loss with his first home run of the season in the second inning. It was only the third hit overall for the third baseman, who's batting just .120 in the early going. Maton should continue to see regular playing time, though it remains to be seen if he'll have much of a fantasy impact moving forward.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Returns to lineup

Rendon (shoulder) is hitting fourth and playing third base Tuesday against the Nationals, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

Rendon was a late scratch from Monday's lineup with soreness in his left shoulder, but he's feeling well enough to hit in the middle of the Angels' lineup against Josiah Gray.

  • Taylor Walls 3B | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Available off bench

Walls (elbow) told reporters that he is available off the bench for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox and could return to the starting lineup as soon as Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Walls is dealing with tendinitis in his left elbow. The infielder will take a seat to start the game against the Red Sox, but he has a good chance of contributing in some capacity before the week ends.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Upping workout intensity

Donaldson (hamstring) has been upping the intensity of his workouts, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

It's not clear whether Donaldson has tested out his hamstring with any running yet, but he appears to be making progress. The hope is that he'll be ready for activation when his 10 days are up.
