  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

    Astros' Alex Bregman: Homers Wednesday

Bregman went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Wednesday's loss to the Giants.

The Astros were held without a run until Bregman's two-run shot off Logan Webb with two outs in the eighth inning. The 29-year-old Bregman had been struggling prior to Wednesday's contest, going just 2-for-25 with a .287 OPS in his last seven games. He's now slashing a disappointing .212/.336/.347 with four homers, 15 RBI and 18 runs scored through his first 140 plate appearances this season.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Nearing rehab assignment

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol suggested Wednesday that Moncada (back) is close to beginning a rehab assignment, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

There's no set day yet, but Grifol noted that Moncada got his uniform dirty while participating in drills Wednesday in Chicago. The third baseman landed on the injured list April 11 due to lower-back soreness and was later diagnosed with a disc issue. Jake Burger continues to draw everyday starts at the hot corner for the White Sox.

  • Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU

Rays' Isaac Paredes: Gets rest Wednesday

Paredes is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Paredes will take a seat after he saw his four-game streak with multiple hits come to an end with an 0-for-3 showing in Tuesday's 4-1 win. Taylor Walls will spell Paredes at third base Wednesday.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Getting breather Wednesday

Henderson is not in the Orioles' lineup for Wednesday's game in Kansas City, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Henderson drew three walks in Tuesday's 11-7 win but went hitless again. It's been a struggle for the rookie infielder, who sits on a lowly .663 OPS through 97 plate appearances this season. He'll get a chance to rest up Wednesday while Ramon Urias fills in for him at third base.

  • Jose Miranda 3B | MIN

    Twins' Jose Miranda: Getting breather

Miranda is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

Miranda received his first day off of the season Sunday and will take a seat again Wednesday. Willi Castro is at third base in his place.

  • Nick Maton DH | CHW

Tigers' Nick Maton: On bench for Game 1 of twin bill

Maton is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Mets.

With a lefty (Joey Lucchesi) taking the hill for the Mets in the opening game of the twin bill, the lefty-hitting Maton will head to the bench while Zack Short spells him at third base. Expect Maton to re-enter the lineup for Game 2 with right-hander Max Scherzer on the bump for the Mets.

  • Royals' Maikel Garcia: Two hits in 2023 debut

Garcia went 2-for-4 and scored a run in Tuesday's loss to the Orioles.

Garcia was slotted in as the Royals' No. 8 hitter and played third base in his 2023 major-league debut. He was one of two players to notch multiple base knocks. The 23 -year-old singled to lead off the seventh and later scored and reached again in the ninth on an infield hit. The Royals have the second-worst record in baseball and have nothing to lose, so Garcia should get an extended look in the lineup as the one of the club's top prospects.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Athletics' Jace Peterson: Swipes bag in loss

Peterson went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Mariners.

Peterson hit a seventh-inning single and stole second, but he was stranded on base. The infielder has hit safely in three straight games, going 4-for-11 with two walks and two runs scored in that span. He's up to a .203/.304/.291 slash line with three steals, one home run, eight RBI and nine runs scored through 92 plate appearances this season. Peterson has seen a little more than a strong-side platoon role, but he's only a lock for the lineup against right-handed pitchers.

  • Royals' Maikel Garcia: Promoted from Triple-A

The Royals recalled Garcia from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Garcia hasn't hit much at Omaha this season, sporting a .242/.348/.347 slash line with one home run and four stolen bases. He's one of the Royals' best prospects, though, having put up a .285/.359/.427 line with 11 homers and 39 steals between Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Omaha in 2022. Shortstop is Garcia's customary position, but he's mostly played third base of late for Omaha, which is notable since there's a clear opening there with the big club. He could play regularly and is worth a roster spot in deeper leagues for his speed alone.

  • Ryan Kreidler 3B | MIN

Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: Lands on Triple-A injured list

Triple-A Toledo placed Kreidler on its 7-day injured list Friday due to knee soreness, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Kreidler likely would have been in consideration for a call-up to the big leagues after Kerry Carpenter (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday, but Kreidler's own knee issue explains why the Tigers opted to promote Zack Short from Triple-A to fill the vacancy on the 26-man active roster. Provided Kreider's knee injury isn't anything more than soreness, he should be ready to return to action with Toledo within the next two weeks. After being optioned to Triple-A on April 15, Kreidler had slashed .300/.382/.600 across 34 plate appearances in his first eight games with Toledo.
