Josh H. Smith SS | TEX
Rangers' Josh Smith: Sitting in early game Wednesday
Smith is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Athletics.
The lefty-hitting Smith will hit the bench for the first game of the twin bill while the Athletics bring southpaw JP Sears to the hill. Davis Wendzel will fill in for Smith at third base.

Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE
Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Posts three hits in win
Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 11-7 loss to the Tigers.
Ramirez endured an 0-for-17 slump over a five-game stretch from April 30 to May 4, but he's bounced back by going 5-for-11 with two homers and five RBI over his last three contests. That slump has still left a mark -- the third baseman is slashing .245/.290/.448 on the year with seven homers, 30 RBI, five steals and 24 runs scored through 155 plate appearances. He's on track to get back over the 100-RBI mark after missing out in 2023.

Jon Berti 3B | CHC
Yankees' Jon Berti: Swipes first bag of season
Berti went 2-for-4 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 10-3 win over the Astros.
Getting the start at third base and batting ninth, Berti nabbed his first steal of the year in the sixth inning. The veteran utility player has started two straight games since returning from a groin injury, both at third base, and with DJ LeMahieu (foot) still lacking a clear timeline for his return, Berti should be in line for consistent work around the Yankees' infield.

Bryan Ramos 3B | BAL
White Sox's Bryan Ramos: Hits in three straight
Ramos went 1-for-3 with a walk Tuesday against the Rays.
Ramos has made three straight starts at third base since being promoted to the majors. While it's a limited sample, he's held his own by collecting one hit in all three games. Ramos has also struck out only once in the first 11 plate appearances of his career.

Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU
Rays' Isaac Paredes: Belts eighth homer
Paredes went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the White Sox.
The 25-year-old continues to rake. Paredes has seven multi-hit performances in the last 12 games, a stretch in which he's batting .362 (17-for-47) with a 6:4 BB:K. The surge has boosted his slash line on the season to .299/.384/.520 with eight homers and 19 RBI, and with top prospect Junior Caminero tearing it up himself at Triple-A Durham (.340/.392/.681 over his last 12 games), Paredes is doing his best to ensure he won't lose his spot in the starting lineup once the Rays call up the 20-year-old phenom.

Matt Vierling RF | DET
Tigers' Matt Vierling: Heading to bench Wednesday
Vierling is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
After starting each of the last four games, Vierling will move to the bench to open up third base for Zach McKinstry. Vierling owns an .879 OPS over his last 10 games and should hang on to a near-everyday role at the hot corner until Gio Urshela (hamstring) returns from the injured list.

Cole Tucker 3B | LAA
Angels' Cole Tucker: Nabs fourth consecutive start
Tucker will start at third base and bat second in Wednesday's game against the Pirates, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.
Tucker will be making his fourth consecutive start Wednesday, with all coming at the hot corner. Luis Rengifo (illness) -- who is on the bench for a fifth straight game -- should eventually take over as the preferred option at third base once healthy, but the Angels could make room for the versatile Tucker elsewhere around the diamond or outfield while he remains productive at the plate. Since his April 29 call-up from Triple-A Salt Lake, Tucker has produced a .770 OPS over 21 plate appearances while stealing three bases in four attempts.

Zack Short SS | HOU
Red Sox's Zack Short: DFA imminent
The Red Sox will designate Short for assignment on Wednesday, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.
Short will be kicked off the 40-man roster just a week after Boston acquired him from New York. The 28-year-old played in just two games for the Red Sox, going 0-for-7 with four strikeouts. Romy Gonzalez (wrist) will be reinstated from the IL to take Short's spot on the active roster.

Brett Harris 3B | ATH
Athletics' Brett Harris: Draws fifth consecutive start
Harris will start at third base and bat ninth in Tuesday's game against the Rangers.
The righty-hitting Harris has now started in five consecutive games at third base since being called up from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday, with three coming against left-handed pitchers and two coming against righties. Tyler Nevin will find himself as the odd man out of the lineup Tuesday against Rangers righty Jose Urena, but Harris may need to string together more strong performances to ensure he remains more than a short-side platoon player moving forward. Harris turned some heads with a two-homer performance in his second major-league game Saturday, but he's otherwise gone 1-for-10 at the dish in his other three starts.
