  • Luis Guillorme 3B | HOU

Mets' Luis Guillorme: Nearing rehab assignment

Guillorme (groin) could begin a rehab assignment as early as Sunday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Guillorme carried a three-week return timetable after landing on the injured list with a left groin strain Aug. 15, and he seems to be on track in his recovery process since he's closing in on a rehab assignment. Assuming he joins a minor-league affiliate Sunday, it wouldn't be surprising to see him rejoin the Mets sometime the following weekend.

  • Bryson Stott 2B | PHI

Phillies' Bryson Stott: Not starting Wednesday

Stott is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game at Arizona, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Stott started the past seven games and will head to the bench Wednesday after going 4-for-24 with two doubles, an RBI, two runs and a stolen base during that stretch. Edmundo Sosa will take over at shortstop and bat ninth in the series finale.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | KC

Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: On bench Wednesday

Rojas isn't starting Wednesday against the Phillies.

Rojas went 1-for-11 with a run, two walks and four strikeouts over the last three games and will get a rare day off Wednesday. Emmanuel Rivera is starting at the hot corner and batting third.

  • Nolan Gorman 3B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Remains out of lineup

Gorman isn't starting Wednesday against Cincinnati, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Gorman is out of the lineup for a third consecutive game. He's in the midst of a slump at the plate in which he's hit just .138 with a double, four runs, an RBI, three walks and 11 strikeouts over his last nine games. Albert Pujols will serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth.

  • Michael Chavis 2B | CIN

Pirates' Michael Chavis: Gets fourth straight start at 1B

Chavis will start at first base and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Chavis will pick up his fourth consecutive start Wednesday and looks poised to operate as the Pirates' primary first baseman for the time being following Bligh Madris' recent demotion to Triple-A Indianapolis. Over 23 games in August, Chavis is slashing .243/.254/.457 with four home runs and 10 RBI.

  • Michael Chavis 2B | CIN

Pirates' Michael Chavis: Blasts 14th home run

Chavis went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in a 4-2 win over the Brewers on Tuesday.

Chavis helped power the Pirates to a close victory, which saw him pick up his 14th home run of the campaign. Chavis is slugging .420 in 336 at-bats this season. The number is right in line with his career slugging percentage of .419. Despite having some pop in his bat, the 27-year-old first baseman is reaching base at a very poor .289 clip.

  • Luis Garcia 1B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Belts fifth homer

Garcia went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 10-6 loss to the A's.

The 22-year-old has hit safely in three straight games since coming off the injured list, but Tuesday's long ball was his first since Aug. 2 and only his fifth of the year. Garcia's 4:51 BB:K through 63 big-league games this season remains an eyesore and he's only 2-for-6 on stolen-base attempts, but he's at least been fairly productive at the plate with a .288/.298/.421 slash line and 27 RBI.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Three RBI in victory

Lux went 2-for-4 with three RBI in Tuesday's victory over the Mets.

Lux provided a spark for the Dodgers on Tuesday as he knocked in Mookie Betts and Max Muncy with a base hit in the third inning to give the team the lead and then provided a much-needed insurance run with an RBI infield single in the seventh. The three-RBI effort was the youngster's first of the season and brings his season-long total to 42. Lux missed a few games recently due to a neck issue but has otherwise played regularly for manager Dave Roberts' squad and owns a healthy .296/.372/.434 slash line on the season.

  • Miguel Vargas 3B | CHW

Dodgers' Miguel Vargas: Set to rejoin big club

Vargas exited during the middle of Triple-A Oklahoma City's game Tuesday and will be added to the major-league roster Thursday by the Dodgers when rosters expand to 28 players, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

The 22-year-old appeared in two games in his first taste of big-league action in early August, and he'll rejoin the Dodgers on Thursday when two extra roster spots become available. Vargas, who is Los Angeles' top prospect, has a .301/.398/.503 slash line with 16 home runs, 81 RBI and 15 stolen bases in 111 games at Triple-A this year.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Beginning rehab assignment Thursday

Albies (foot) will begin a rehab assignment Thursday with Triple-A Gwinnett, Gabe Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

It was reported over the weekend that Albies was close to beginning a rehab stint, and an official date has now been set. It's not clear how many minor-league games he will play before rejoining the big club, but he figures to be back with Atlanta at some point in the first half of September.
