  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Exits with head injury

Walker was hit in the head by a pitch and was forced to leave the game Monday against the Dodgers, Jack Magruder of The Sports Xchange reports.

Walker was visibly bleeding immediately after getting hit, but he managed to walk off the field while holding a towel to the wound. The extent of the injury is currently unknown but more news on his availability going forward should emerge after further evaluation.

  • Phillies' Asdrubal Cabrera: Remains on bench

Cabrera is not in the lineup Monday against the Rockies, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Cabrera is hitting just .209/.320/.279 over his last 15 appearances, so he'll head to the bench for a third straight game and the fifth time in the last seven contests. Scott Kingery is starting at shortstop and hitting seventh in his absence.

  • Diamondbacks' Paul Goldschmidt: Takes seat Monday

Goldschmidt is not in the lineup Monday against the Dodgers.

Manager Torey Lovullo is resting a handful of starters with the Diamondbacks eliminated from the playoffs. Christian Walker will start at first base and hit cleanup in place of Goldschmidt in Monday's series opener.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Cubs' Anthony Rizzo: Scores, drives in run in win

Rizzo went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 6-1 win over the White Sox.

Rizzo filled the stat sheet in this one, and he's up to 69 runs scored and 96 RBI this year. If he can collect four RBI in the final week of the season, the slugger will reach 100 for the fourth straight year.

  • Phillies' Asdrubal Cabrera: Sits again Sunday

Cabrera is out of the lineup Sunday against the Braves.

Cabrera finds himself on the bench for the second straight game and the fourth time in the last six contests. Scott Kingery starts at shortstop in his place.

  • Joey Votto 1B | TOR

Reds' Joey Votto: Heads to bench

Votto is not in the lineup Sunday in Miami.

Votto sits for the second time this month. He's hit a solid .290/.405/.464 in September. Tucker Barnhart will move out to first base in his absence, with Curt Casali catching.

  • Phillies' Asdrubal Cabrera: On bench Saturday

Cabrera will not start Saturday against the Braves.

Cabrera has gone just 5-for-31 over his last 10 games. Scott Kingery will take his spot at shortstop Saturday.

  • Mets' Wilmer Flores: Shut down for season

Flores has been diagnosed with early-onset arthritis in both knees and has been shut down for the remainder of the season, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

It turns out the knee issues that have plagued Flores recently will end his season prematurely. Manager Mickey Callaway added that he isn't sure what the diagnoses means for the 27-year-old's future. Flores will finish the season with a .267/.319/.417 line, 11 homers and 52 RBI through 126 games.

  • Phillies' Asdrubal Cabrera: Back in lineup Thursday

Cabrera (calf) will start at shortstop and bat third against Atlanta on Thursday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Cabrera will return to the lineup for the series opener of a massive four-game set against the Braves after being withheld from the starting nine the past two games with a left calf injury. During 15 games this month, he's hit .245/.327/.469 with two home runs and seven RBI.

  • Chris Shaw 1B | CHW

Giants' Chris Shaw: Seeing regular starts

Shaw started in left field and went 1-for-3 with a walk in Wednesday's 8-4 loss to the Padres.

Shaw made his fourth consecutive start, and second against a southpaw. The Giants are finally giving their young slugger a consistent look in left field after benching him in nine of the 14 games since his callup Aug. 31. Shaw is still slashing just .229/.300/.371 over 40 plate appearances in the majors, but his strong power output in the minors (24 homers and .505 slugging percentage) could generate some cheap pop in daily and deep formats.
