Twins' Alex Kirilloff: Being placed on 10-day IL

Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said Wednesday that Kirilloff will be placed on the 10-day injured list with inflammation in his surgically repaired right wrist, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Minnesota isn't putting a timeline on his return, but given that Kirilloff's injury is related to his previous surgery, it wouldn't be surprising if he was sidelined for more than the 10-day minimum. He's expected to get imaging on the wrist and meet with team doctors in the coming days, at which point a clearer timeline for his return should emerge. Gilberto Celestino is filling in for Kirilloff in the outfield in Wednesday's game against the Dodgers, but the Twins could recall Trevor Larnach from Triple-A St. Paul to serve as Kirilloff's primary replacement in left field while he's on the IL.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Collects first MLB hit

Torkelson went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Red Sox.

Torkelson can now take a deep breath, as he came into Tuesday's contest 0-for-10 with three walks and seven strikeouts to begin his MLB career. With the first hit now behind him, perhaps the 22-year-old can get going at the plate. The Tigers will likely keep giving Torkelson regular chances in an effort to further his development, and fantasy managers should remain patient because the talent is there.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Back from paternity leave

The Astros reinstated Gurriel (personal) from the paternity list Monday, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

Houston has yet to release its lineup for Tuesday's series opener in Arizona, but it's expected to include Gurriel, who started in last Thursday's Opening Day game against the Angels before leaving the team to witness the birth of his child. Niko Goodrum and Aledmys Diaz shared duties at first base over the three games Gurriel missed, but both are expected to move back into utility roles.

  • Alex Kirilloff LF | MIN

Twins' Alex Kirilloff: Gets Tuesday off

Kirilloff is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers.

Kirilloff will take a seat after he went 1-for-15 with seven strikeouts while starting in each of the Twins' first four games. The righty-hitting Gilberto Celestino will replace the lefty-hitting Kirilloff in left field with southpaw Andrew Heaney on the hill for Los Angeles.

  • Yandy Diaz DH | TB

    Rays' Yandy Diaz: Sitting Tuesday

Diaz will be on the bench Tuesday against Oakland, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Diaz hits the bench for the second time in the team's first five games. He's gone 1-for-9 with three walks thus far this season. Taylor Walls will take over at the hot corner.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Not starting Tuesday

Vaughn is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mariners, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Vaughn will sit for the second time in four games to begin the season, but manager Tony LaRussa may have a tougher time keeping him out of the lineup moving forward after the White Sox placed AJ Pollock (hamstring) on the injured list. Pollock's removal from the active roster removes one potential roadblock to playing time, though Vaughn will still head to the bench Tuesday with top catcher Yasmani Grandal getting a day off behind the dish and serving as the White Sox's designated hitter instead. Vaughn has gotten off to a hot start through Chicago's first three games, going 4-for-10 with two home runs and six RBI.

  • Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW

Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Gets Monday off

Dalbec is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

Dalbec started at first base in each of Boston's first three games, going 2-for-10 with a solo home run and two walks. Travis Shaw will fill in for Dalbec in the series opener in Detroit.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Guardians' Josh Naylor: Could return Friday

Naylor (lower leg) could be back as soon as Friday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Naylor opened the year on the injured list after missing most of last season with a major leg injury, but it looks as though he's only slightly behind schedule. He'll be evaluated after making rehab appearances Tuesday and Wednesday and could be cleared to return after a minimum-length absence.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Day off Monday

Torkelson will sit Monday against the Red Sox.

Torkelson has gone 0-for-8 with six strikeouts through his first three MLB games. He'll get a day to clear his head Monday, though it will take far more than three games for there to be reason to seriously worry about his playing time. Harold Castro will take over at first base.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Expected back Tuesday

Gurriel (personal) is expected to return to the lineup Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.

Gurriel was placed on the paternity list Friday, and he missed the remainder of the team's opening series against the Angels as a result. Given that the team is off Monday, he is in line to return to the lineup at the next opportunity. Gurriel should start at first base while hitting fifth in the order.
