  • 49ers' Demarcus Robinson: Suspended three games

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday that Robinson has been suspended the first three games of the regular season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Robinson's suspension relates to a misdemeanor DUI charge he pled no-contest to in July, stemming from an arrest last November. The veteran wide receiver will have to wait to make his regular-season debut until Sunday, Sept. 28 against the Jaguars, though he remains eligible to suit up for the 49ers' preseason finale against Los Angeles on Saturday. Robinson's absence will occur at an especially crucial point for San Francisco's passing game, with Brandon Aiyuk (PUP-knee) expected to be unavailable for the start of the regular season and all of Jauan Jennings (calf), Jacob Cowing (hamstring) and Jordan Watkins (ankle) currently missing time.

  • Tre Harris WR | LAC

Chargers' Tre Harris: Exits with trainers

Harris left Wednesday's practice early with trainers, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports.

The rookie likely suffered an injury, though perhaps just a minor one, during Wednesday's practice. He caught six of eight targets for 85 yards in Saturday's preseason loss to the Rams -- a potential springboard to make his move up the depth chart after not much noise on that front during training camp. With Harris and Quentin Johnston (concussion) potentially now missing practice time, rookie fifth-round pick KeAndre Lambert-Smith should get more first-team reps alongside Ladd McConkey and Keenan Allen.

  • Jacob Cowing WR | SF

49ers' Jacob Cowing: Missing practice time again

Cowing isn't practicing Wednesday after suffering a lower-body injury Tuesday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Cowing injured his hamstring during the first practice of training camp and was out for nearly three weeks before easing back into action last Tuesday. He's now absent again, with no word so far on whether it's an aggravation of the hamstring pull or a new injury altogether. Either way, the 49ers are hurting for wideout depth, with Cowing, Jauan Jennings (calf), Brandon Aiyuk (knee) and Jordan Watkins (ankle) all absent from practice. Demarcus Robinson is healthy but may soon be suspended, perhaps opening the door for Russell Gage or one of the other depth players to get a lot of snaps early in the season. Cowing is also a candidate if he's able to make it back before Jennings and Aiyuk.

  • Jordan Addison WR | MIN

Vikings' Jordan Addison: Leaves practice early

Addison left Wednesday's practice early with a potential hand/arm injury, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reports.

He remained on the practice field as an observer, which is generally indicative of a minor injury. The larger concern for Addison's fantasy value is a three-game suspension to start the season, and it's become a bigger problem for the Vikings now that Justin Jefferson (hamstring) and Jalen Nailor (hand) have been missing practice. Jefferson, at least, seems to be moving in the right direction and gearing up to play Week 1.

  • Cedric Tillman WR | CLE

Browns' Cedric Tillman: Picks up minor thumb injury

Tillman missed Wednesday's practice with a non-serious thumb injury, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

He presumably won't play in Cleveland's preseason finale but should be fine for the regular-season opener against Cincinnati on Sun., Sept. 7. Tillman looks to be the No. 2 wide receiver for Cleveland, although it may end up being a fluid depth chart beyond top target Jerry Jeudy. With Joe Flacco named as the Week 1 starter, there's an opportunity for decent receiving production even if the Browns are unlikely to field an efficient offense.

  • Bengals' Jermaine Burton: Nearing return

Burton (undisclosed) is considered day-to-day and making good progress, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.

The Bengals held Burton out of their second preseason game due to an unspecified injury. He mostly worked with the second-string offense during the preseason opener, also returning kickoffs and punts. There hasn't been much sign of Burton challenging Andrei Iosivas for the No. 3 receiver job, but the 2024 third-round pick could have a role as a return specialist and occasional depth wideout if he proves his health before Week 1.

  • Tee Higgins WR | CIN

Bengals' Tee Higgins: To be held out for preseason finale

Higgins and other key Bengals players aren't scheduled to play in Saturday's preseason finale against Indianapolis, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

The starters got run in the first two preseason games, with Joe Burrow leading Cincinnati to four touchdowns on five drives. Higgins didn't play quite as much as his quarterback, and he finished the preseason with just one incomplete target. The important thing is that Higgins stayed healthy throughout the offseason program and training camp after missing a handful of games each of the past two seasons. The Bengals will open their 2025 campaign with a 1 p.m. ET kickoff at Cleveland on Sun., Sept. 7.

  • Patriots' Kyle Williams: Not expected to play Thursday

Williams (undisclosed), who has missed the Patriots' last two practices, isn't expected to play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Giants, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

The same applies to fellow WRs Efton Chism (foot/ankle), Kendrick Bourne (leg), Ja'Lynn Polk (arm/shoulder) and Javon Baker. Of the group, Williams' roster standing is the most secure, but it remains to be seen how much volume the 2025 third-rounder sees early on this season, with Stefon Diggs (knee), DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte and Mack Hollins also in the mix for targets.

  • Patriots' Efton Chism: Not on track to play Thursday

Chism (foot/ankle), who has missed the Patriots' last two practices, isn't likely to play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Giants, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

For now, the Patriots wideout corps remains crowded, but Chism's strong training camp/preseason has put him in decent position to secure a spot on the team's initial 53-man roster, provided his injury issue doesn't linger. In his two preseason appearances, Chism has caught 12 passes for 121 yards and two TDs.

  • Tyreek Hill WR | MIA

Dolphins' Tyreek Hill: Sitting out another practice

Hill (oblique) is not practicing Wednesday, Omar Kelly of the Miami Herald reports.

Hill has been on and off the practice field due to a lingering oblique injury since early August, though he's been sidelined the majority of the time. Kelly now speculates that the veteran wideout could sit out practice until the start of the regular season in order to prioritize getting back to full health in time for Week 1 against the Colts on Sunday, Sept. 7. Overall, Miami's pass-catching corps has been trending in the right direction, with Jaylen Waddle back at practice and TE Darren Waller (undisclosed) having come off the active/PUP list Wednesday, though RB De'Von Achane (calf) seems to be facing a similar recovery timetable to Hill. Expect Hill to sit out Saturday's preseason finale against the Jaguars.
