Whittington caught his lone target for eight yards in the Rams' 27-7 loss to the 49ers in Week 1.
Whittington played 25 of 61 offensive snaps but saw his playing time elevated some late in the fourth quarter after the Rams pulled their starters. He also saw 13 snaps on special teams, returning four kicks for 94 yards. Whittington may need some injuries ahead of him to be a useful fantasy asset.

Rams' Jordan Whittington: Early favorite for WR3 role?
Whittington looks like the early leader in the competition for the Rams' No. 3 receiver job, according to Cameron DaSilva of Rams Wire.
We've heard this before at a similar time of the year, and while Whittington has seen a few opportunities as the No. 3 receiver, it's rarely amounted to much in terms of routes and targets. The job bounced around between a slew of players last year, including Xavier Smith and Konata Mumpfield, both of whom are still on the team. The Rams also have rookie sixth-round pick CJ Daniels as a dark horse candidate for the job. In any case, the offense likely will use a lot of multi-TE formations, limiting the WR3's snap and route shares.

Whittington will enter training camp competing for the Rams' No. 3 wide reciever role behind Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, Nate Atkins of The Athletic reports.
A sixth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Whittington saw his snap count on offense increase in his sophomore campaign, but that didn't result in increased production as he finished the 2025 regular season with 18 catches on 25 targets for 171 yards across 17 games. His proficiency on special teams and as a blocker will keep him on the field, but he'll be competing in training camp with Xavier Smith, Konata Mumpfield, CJ Daniels and Tyler Scott for the top spot behind the dynamic duo of Nacua and Adams.

Whittington (chest) was cleared to return to Sunday's NFC Championship Game loss to the Seahawks.
Whittington suffered a chest injury late in the third quarter of Sunday's 31-27 loss to Seattle but was given the green light to return in the fourth quarter. The second-year pro played 19 snaps (three on offense, 16 on special teams) and returned five kickoffs for 116 yards. Whittington ended the 2025 regular season with 18 catches (on 25 targets) for 171 yards along with 434 yards on 17 kickoff returns across 17 games.

Whittington sat out the Wild Card Round due to a knee injury he suffered in Week 18 versus the Cardinals, but it now appears he'll be ready to go for the Divisional Round against the Bears. For the third time in the last five games, Whittington failed to draw a target on offense.
