Chapman earned a save against the Athletics on Thursday, allowing one hit and striking out two batters with no walks over one inning.

Chapman entered in the bottom of the ninth inning with Boston clinging to a one-run lead. He gave up a one-out double to put the tying run in scoring position but then struck out Colby Thomas and Nick Kurtz to slam the door shut. Chapman ran his scoreless streak to 10 appearances and notched his 26th save of the season, tied for fourth most in the majors. He could challenge his career-best mark of 38 saves.

Gray (13-2) earned the win over the Athletics on Thursday, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out five batters over seven innings.

Gray wasn't at his sharpest, and he fell behind 3-0 after four innings. However, the veteran hurler hung tough and gave up just one more run the rest of the way. Gray was still trailing when he threw his final pitch, but Boston put up a pair of runs in the top of the eighth to propel the right-hander to his 13th victory -- tied with Cristopher Sanchez for the most in the league. Gray has stumbled a bit of late by allowing nine earned runs across 12 innings over his past two starts, but he's been so good this year that fantasy managers shouldn't be overly concerned about the mediocre two-start stretch. He's projected for a home matchup against the White Sox his next time out.

The Mets acquired Amick and Bruin Agbayani from the Twins on Thursday in exchange for A.J. Minter, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Amick has spent the entire 2026 season at Double-A and is slashing .217/.338/.482 with 23 homers, 72 RBI, 60 runs scored, two stolen bases and a 50:108 BB:K across 379 plate appearances. The 23-year-old corner infield prospect was a second-round pick out of Tennessee two years back and has some power upside.

The Twins acquired Minter from the Mets on Thursday in exchange for Bruin Agbayani and Billy Amick, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

One of the top left-handed relievers available, Minter will help shore up the back end of the Minnesota bullpen. Minter missed the first 54 games of the season recovering from 2025 lat surgery but hasn't missed a beat since debuting in late May. The lefty owns a 2.35 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 20:2 K:BB across 23 innings this season.

Williams secured the save Thursday against the Marlins, allowing no runs on no hits and one walk in a scoreless ninth inning. He struck out two.

The Marlins made things a bit interesting with a leadoff walk in a two-run game, but Williams responded by striking out the next two hitters he faced and then induced a game-ending popup by Javier Sanoja. It's been an adventure at times this season for the 31-year-old right-hander, but he's delivered five consecutive scoreless outings and converted three straight save opportunities. For the year, Williams has a 4.17 ERA, a career-worst 1.58 WHIP and 51:20 K:BB with 16 saves in 19 chances over 36.2 innings.

McLean took a no-decision Thursday against the Marlins, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out six.

McLean was sharp despite the start of Thursday's game being pushed back an hour due to inclement weather, though the long ball proved to be an issue -- both of his runs allowed were solo shots. The right-hander has been dealing on the mound of late, pitching at least six innings while yielding two runs or fewer in six consecutive starts and producing a 42:11 K:BB during that period. McLean is set to bring an impressive 3.29 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 148:45 K:BB over 125.2 innings into a favorable matchup against a struggling Guardians offense.

Perez took a no-decision Thursday against the Mets, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks in 6.1 innings. He struck out six.

Perez showed no ill effects of Thursday's game being delayed an hour due to rain, as he held the Mets out of the hit column through 4.2 innings. A fielding error by Graham Pauley kept an earned run off the right-hander's line in the sixth inning, and Perez put a nice bow on a month of July that saw him post five consecutive quality starts. Perez will carry a strong 3.44 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 112:40 K:BB over 104.2 innings into his next scheduled outing in Atlanta.

Barco took a no-decision Thursday against the Reds, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks in three relief innings. He struck out two.

Working in long relief behind opener Yohan Ramirez, Barco was mostly ineffective in a laborious outing Thursday. The southpaw landed only 42 of his 72 pitches for strikes, walking multiple batters in his fourth consecutive major-league appearance while failing to work at least five frames in any of them. Through 14.2 innings, Barco has a disastrous 7.36 ERA, 2.11 WHP and 10:12 K:BB and might soon be headed back to Triple-A Indianapolis following his first big-league showing since April 28.

Lowder took a no-decision Thursday against Pittsburgh, allowing two runs on five hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out five.

Lowder cruised through four shutout innings to begin the evening in what was ultimately one of his better showings of the campaign. The right-hander logged a quality start, just his fourth of the year and first since way back on April 20, while the five punchouts were his most in his past six appearances. He should get at least one more turn through the rotation next week against the Athletics due to Nick Lodolo's (finger) absence. Lowder holds a 5.42 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 70:37 K:BB over 83 innings.

Lile went 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs in Thursday's 5-4 loss to Atlanta.

Albeit in a losing effort, Lile submitted his third multi-homer game already this season. The outfielder has a six-game hitting streak going, and the multi-hit effort was his first since July 17 in Sacramento against the Athletics. Lile burst onto the scene with an .845 OPS last season, but he's slashing a lukewarm .248/.299/.418 with 13 long balls, 54 RBI, 10 stolen bases and 56 runs scored over 452 plate appearances this year.
