The Angels placed Grissom on the 10-day injured list Monday with a left oblique strain.

Grissom's oblique issue had kept him out of action for the past three games, and he was unable to make enough improvement with the injury to avoid an IL stint. The Angels have not offered a timetable for Grissom's return, but oblique injuries typically result in multi-week absences.

The Angels selected Mancini's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake, and he will start at first base and bat seventh against the Astros on Monday.

Mancini and Denzer Guzman are both joining the big club after the Angels placed both Vaughn Grissom (oblique) and Adam Frazier (elbow) on the 10-day injured list. Mancini last saw major-league action in 2023 with the Cubs, when he slashed .234/.299/.336 with four home runs and 28 RBI in 261 plate appearances. Nolan Schanuel is nursing a left ankle injury, so Mancini should see a fair amount of reps at first base for as long as the former and Frazier are out of action.

Vazquez is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Angels.

After starting at catcher each of the last three days, Vazquez will get a break for Monday's series opener versus the Halos. Collin Price will be behind the dish and bat ninth for the Astros

The Angels recalled Guzman from Triple-A Salt Lake and he will start at second base and bat fifth in Monday's game against the Astros.

The Angels needed more depth in the infield after placing both Vaughn Grissom (oblique) and Adam Frazier (elbow) on the 10-day injured list, so Guzman and Trey Mancini will both join the big club's 26-man roster. Guzman appeared in 13 major-league games for the Angels in 2025 and went 8-for-42 (.190) with two home runs and three RBI. He's been far more productive at the plate in Triple-A, where he has a .336/.403/.571 slash line with nine steals (in 13 attempts), 12 home runs and 57 RBI in 268 plate appearances.

Meyers is absent from the lineup for Monday's contest versus the Angels.

Meyers started all three games in center field over the weekend against the Athletics, but he'll get some rest for Monday's lid lifter versus the Halos. Taylor Trammell will get the call in center field for the Astros.

Steer is not in the lineup for Monday's game in San Diego.

Steer is coming off a hitless series this past weekend in St. Louis, so he will get a breather Monday as the Reds continue their road trip. Cincinnati will go with Noelvi Marte in right field and Edwin Arroyo at second base.

Waldron (forearm) is scheduled to throw two innings of a bullpen session Tuesday and is on track to start a rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso this Sunday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Waldron landed on the 15-day injured list in mid-May due to a right brachialis muscle injury, his second stint on the IL this season. He's progressed enough in his recovery to close in on a rehab assignment, and he could back with the big club after a couple of outings in the minors. When he returns to the majors, Waldron will likely operate out of the Padres' bullpen after Lucas Giolito was added to the rotation.

Lovelady will start Monday's game against San Francisco, Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com reports.

Miles Mikolas was initially slated to start in Monday's series opener. Instead, the Nationals will have Lovelady start on the mound and toss one or two innings before Mikolas takes over in a bulk-relief role. It's the fifth opening assignment of the season for Lovelady, who has a 3.12 ERA, 1.73 WHIP, four saves (in five chances) and a 23:19 K:BB across 26 innings.

Mikolas will not start Monday against the Giants but will follow opener Richard Lovelady, Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com reports.

Mikolas has followed an opener in each of his last four outings. That trend will continue Monday, with the southpaw Lovelady set to toss one or two innings before handing the keys over to Mikolas. The latter is looking to rebound from his last appearance against the Marlins this past Tuesday, when he allowed six runs on six hits (including three home runs) and two walks while striking out four across six innings. Mikolas has a 6.39 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 36:16 K:BB across 56.1 innings this season.

Schanuel said that he is not in the lineup for Monday's game versus the Astros due to lingering left ankle soreness, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Schanuel missed the minimum 10 days with left ankle tendinitis before being activated Saturday and starting each of the Angels' last two contests at first base. He added Monday that he will not need to go back on the injured list, but Schanuel could have to play at less than 100 percent for a bit as he navigates his nagging ankle problem.
