Bennett (1-2) took the loss Wednesday, giving up four runs on seven hits and a walk over five innings as the Red Sox fell 7-5 to the Rays. He struck out four.

Facing Tampa Bay for the second time in his first three big-league starts, Bennett lost to Boston's AL East rival once again. The southpaw tossed 52 of 73 pitches for strikes, getting tagged for one run in the third inning and three more in the fifth before leaving the mound. He could stick around in the majors a little longer this time with Brayan Bello bumped down to Triple-A, but Bennett's 5.28 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 8:5 K:BB in 15.1 MLB innings isn't encouraging. The 25-year-old lines up to make his next start at home next week against the Blue Jays.

Burger is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Kansas City.

It's a routine day off for Burger, who had started each of the previous 13 tilts. Ezequiel Duran will be deployed at first base by the Rangers, and Nicky Lopez will cover second base.

The Mariners designated Zulueta for assignment Wednesday.

Seattle needed to free up a spot on its 40-man roster. Zulueta has spent all of the 2026 season at Triple-A Tacoma, holding a 5.75 ERA and 21:16 K:BB across 20.1 frames. He stands a decent chance of passing through waivers, and if that happens he could remain in the organization.

The Mariners placed Brash on the 15-day injured list Wednesday due to a right lat strain.

Seattle recalled right-hander Domingo Gonzalez from Triple-A Tacoma to take Brash's spot in the bullpen. Brash has served as one of the top setup arms in front of closer Andres Munoz this season, notching three wins and six holds while accruing a 0.54 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 15:6 K:BB across 16.2 innings over his 20 appearances.

The Mariners optioned Bliss to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.

Bliss was just recalled Monday and started at second base the last two days. However, with Miles Mastrobuoni (calf) back from the injured list to reclaim his utility role, Bliss will head back to the minors.

The Mariners recalled Gonzalez from Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.

Gonzalez has tossed 5.2 scoreless frames with a 5:3 K:BB during his time in the majors this season. The 26-year-old will operate in a middle-relief role.

The Mariners activated Mastrobuoni (calf) from the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

Mastrobuoni is finally ready for his season debut with the big club after recovering from a right calf strain he suffered while playing for Team Italy during the World Baseball Classic. He's starting at second base and batting eighth for the Mariners in Baltimore on Wednesday.

Alexander will start at third base and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Mariners.

Since going hitless in six at-bats during a doubleheader with the Tigers on May 24, Alexander has caught fire at the plate, slashing .444/.500/.722 with two home runs, one stolen base, 12 RBI and seven runs over a stretch of 12 contests. Alexander doesn't have a regular home at any one position, but his ability to play all over the infield and outfield should afford him fairly stable playing time so long as he's wielding a hot bat. He'll be making his fourth start in five games Wednesday, this time filling in at the hot corner for a resting Coby Mayo.

Griffin (elbow) did some flat-ground throwing from out to 90 feet Wednesday at about 75 percent intensity, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Griffin threw for the first time since he landed on the 10-day injured list May 31 due to a flexor strain in his right elbow. He also took part in fielding drills without throwing, which is something the rookie has done since first going on the IL. Griffin remains without a timeline to rejoin the Pirates' active roster, but more clarity on that front should become available as he continues to ramp up his throwing.

Emerson (back) will remain out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles, but he took part in a workout earlier in the day and is optimistic that he'll avoid a stint on the injured list, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.

Though he'll be on the bench for a third straight game while he contends with back spasms, Emerson reported improvement with his condition after taking some swings in the batting cage. Since receiving a promotion from Triple-A Tacoma on May 17, the 20-year-old infielder has cobbled together a .242/.319/.548 slash line with four home runs, 10 RBI and nine runs in 19 games.
