Bryan Hoeing RP | SD
Padres' Bryan Hoeing: Goes on IL
The Padres placed Hoeing (elbow) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday.
Hoeing is set to miss the entire 2026 season after undergoing surgery to repair the flexor tendon in his right elbow. He'll officially begin the season on the 15-day IL but will likely be transferred to the 60-day IL if/when the Padres need to clear a 40-man roster spot.

Jason Adam RP | SD
Padres' Jason Adam: Opens season on IL
The Padres placed Adam (quadriceps) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday.
The 2025 All-Star underwent surgery in September to repair a ruptured left quadriceps tendon, and though he was able to strike out a batter in a perfect inning in his lone Cactus League appearance this past Friday, the Padres will give him more time to build up before adding him to the 26-man active roster. The 34-year-old right-hander will likely report to an affiliate later this weekend once the minor-league begins so that he can kick off a rehab assignment, and he could be ready for activation when first eligible April 6.

Griffin Canning SP | SD
Padres' Griffin Canning: Officially placed on IL
The Padres placed Canning (Achilles) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday.
Canning is still on the mend from the season-ending Achilles surgery he underwent last summer, but he was cleared to face hitters in a simulated game March 20 and struck out three over a scoreless inning. A clearer timeline for his return will emerge while he builds his workload, though he could return to San Diego's rotation before the end of April.

Will Wagner 2B | SD
Padres' Will Wagner: Lands on injured list
The Padres placed Wagner (oblique) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.
Wagner will officially begin the season on the IL due to the right oblique strain he suffered earlier this month. Per MLB.com, Wagner had resumed taking part in light drills by the end of spring training, but he's still likely to remain on the shelf for most of April.

Ty France 1B | SD
Padres' Ty France: Contract selected by San Diego
The Padres selected France to the major-league roster Wednesday.
As expected, France is a member of the Padres' Opening Day roster after Sung-Mun Song (oblique) was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. France put together a strong spring training across 19 Cactus League outings, finishing with a .306/.352/.510 slash line with two home runs and 12 RBI in 54 plate appearances. He should see occasional playing time as a utility man as long as Song is out of action.

Walker Buehler SP | SD
Padres' Walker Buehler: Contract selected
The Padres selected Buehler's contract from Triple-A El Paso on Wednesday.
Manager Craig Stammen confirmed over the weekend that Buehler had won a spot on San Diego's Opening Day roster, and Wednesday's move makes it official. The 31-year-old righty struggled to the tune of a 4.93 ERA and 1.52 WHIP across 126 regular-season innings last year with Philadelphia and Boston, and he was lit up for seven earned runs over just 3.1 frames during his final start in the Cactus League. If he fails to turn things around quickly, he could be kicked out of the Friars' rotation once Joe Musgrove (elbow) and/or Griffin Canning (Achilles) return from the IL.

Lenyn Sosa 2B | TOR
White Sox's Lenyn Sosa: Out of Opening Day lineup
Sosa won't be in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Brewers, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.
Sosa slashed .261/.314/.522 with two homers, 11 RBI and six runs scored across 51 plate appearances in the Cactus League and is expected to begin the year as the White Sox's primary DH, but he will remain on the bench during the team's season opener. Andrew Benintendi will serve as the designated hitter instead while Austin Hays, Luisangel Acuna and Everson Pereira start across the outfield.

Sung-Mun Song 2B | SD
Padres' Sung-Mun Song: Officially placed on IL
The Padres placed Song (oblique) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.
Song remains on the mend from the right oblique strain that he aggravated in March. He'll open the season on the IL and can make his MLB debut as soon as April 1, but MLB.com relays that he's trending toward a mid-April return. Song was able to play in a minor-league game on the back fields of camp this past Sunday, so he could be ready to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A El Paso when the season gets underway this weekend.

Everson Pereira LF | CHW
White Sox's Everson Pereira: Starting Opening Day
Pereira (illness) will start in right field and bat seventh Thursday against the Brewers, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.
Pereira sat out the final game of the White Sox's Cactus League schedule with an illness, but he's now fully healthy and will officially claim a spot in Chicago's Opening Day outfield alongside Austin Hays and Luisangel Acuna.

Jose Barrero SS | BAL
Orioles' Jose Barrero: Sent to minors
The Orioles reassigned Barrero to Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.
Barrero appeared in 22 games at the big-league level with St. Louis in 2025, but he finished last season in the Orioles organization as a member of the Norfolk roster and will return to the affiliate to begin the 2026 campaign. The 27-year-old came up short in his bid for a utility spot on the Orioles' Opening Day roster after slashing just .105/.150/.289 over 40 plate appearances during the Grapefruit League.
