Pirates' Bryan Reynolds: Scratched with groin issue
Reynolds was scratched from the lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies due to left groin discomfort, Manny Randhawa of MLB.com reports.
Reynolds has been scorching hot at the plate recently, slashing .405/.463/.838 with four homers, eight RBI and eight runs across his last nine games, but a groin injury will prevent him from starting Friday. While he takes a day off to heal, Esmerlyn Valdez will enter the lineup to start in left field.

Dodgers' Will Smith: Won't return this weekend
Manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Smith (neck) will not be activated from the injured list over the weekend, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Smith is slated to receive a cortisone injection in his neck, which will keep him on the shelf beyond the 10-day minimum. The Dodgers will wait to see how he responds to treatment before deciding whether to have him travel with the team during the upcoming road trip, at which point more will be known about the 31-year-old's return timeline.

Bradgley Rodriguez RP | SD
Padres' Bradgley Rodriguez: Moved to ACL
The Padres optioned Rodriguez to the Arizona Complex League on Friday.
The Padres have been planning to get Rodriguez some time off to rest, per Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune, so the team will send him all the way down to rookie ball while he does so. The 22-year-old righty owns a 2.10 ERA and 1.19 WHIP across 34.1 innings with the Friars this season, so he'll likely return to San Diego's bullpen once he's well rested. Mason Miller was activated from the bereavement list in a corresponding move.

Padres' Mason Miller: Reinstated from bereavement list
The Padres reinstated Miller from the Bereavement/Family Medical Leave List Friday.
Miller will make his return to San Diego after being out since Monday. The Padres optioned Bradgley Rodriguez to the Arizona Complex League in order to make room for Miller on the active roster. Miller has been lights-out this campaign with a 0.90 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 59:12 K:BB through 30 innings of work.

Tyler Mahle SP | SF
Giants' Tyler Mahle: Rejoining rotation Wednesday
Giants manager Tony Vitello said Friday that Mahle (hamstring) will rejoin the rotation Wednesday against the Athletics, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Mahle was wild in his first and only rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday in issuing five walks over three innings, but he managed to escape with only one run allowed. The right-hander threw 63 pitches in the outing, so he will not be available for a full workload versus the A's. Vitello declined to reveal whose rotation spot Mahle will be taking, but it will likely be either Trevor McDonald or Adrian Houser getting the boot.
