James Wood RF | WAS
Nationals' James Wood: Inside-the-park grand slam in win
Wood went 3-for-4 with a grand slam and an additional run scored during the Nationals' 9-6 win over the Mets on Tuesday.
With the bases loaded in the second inning, Wood drove a ball deep to left-center field that barely glanced off the mitt of a leaping Nick Morabito. The ball trickled out to center field, and that was enough for Wood to hustle around the bases for the first grand slam of his major-league career, albeit in an unconventional matter. Wood has logged three hits in back-to-back games and is up to 13 home runs on the season, which leads the Nationals and is tied with Drake Baldwin (oblique) and Jordan Walker for the third-best total in the National League.

Brenton Doyle CF | COL
Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Exits early Tuesday
Doyle was removed from Tuesday's game against the Rangers with an apparent injury, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
Doyle seemed to be a little shaken up after landing awkwardly on his left side/shoulder while attempting to make a diving catch in the first inning, and he was replaced on defense at the start of the second frame. The severity of his injury is unclear, but if he's forced to miss additional games, Tyler Freeman could receive more reps in the outfield.

Corbin Burnes SP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Corbin Burnes: Facing hitters Friday
Burnes (elbow) is expected to begin throwing live batting practice Friday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
Burnes will first have to make it through two more bullpen sessions, but assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks, he'll be cleared to face live hitters for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery last June. The 31-year-old righty said he also expects to begin playing in rehab games in a few weeks and is aiming to make his season debut for the D-backs around the All-Star break.

Braxton Garrett SP | MIA
Marlins' Braxton Garrett: Headed to Jacksonville
The Marlins will option Garrett to Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
The decision to send Garrett down comes after he gave up two earned runs on three hits and three walks while striking out two batters across three innings during his start against Atlanta on Tuesday. It was an improvement over his season debut, during which he surrendered five earned runs while recording just four outs, but a second consecutive poor outing will force the Marlins to send the 28-year-old lefty back to the minors to right the ship. It's unknown who will take Garrett's place in Miami's rotation.

Drake Baldwin C | ATL
Braves' Drake Baldwin: Diagnosed with Grade 1 strain
Baldwin was diagnosed with a Grade 1 right oblique strain Tuesday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
Baldwin landed on the injured list earlier Tuesday with an oblique strain, and now that he's been confirmed to be dealing with a relatively mild injury, he may not need much more than a minimum stay on the IL. With Sean Murphy (finger) also on the shelf, Atlanta will use a combination of Sandy Leon and Chadwick Tromp behind the dish until Baldwin returns.

Wyatt Mills RP | LAD
Dodgers' Wyatt Mills: Optioned to OKC
The Dodgers optioned Mills to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday.
After getting the call to join the active roster May 10, Mills allowed three earned runs on three hits and seven walks while striking out one batter in 3.1 innings across four appearances. He'll return to the minors to make room for Eric Lauer, though Mills will get to keep his spot on the 40-man roster for now.

Ramon Laureano LF | SD
Padres' Ramon Laureano: Sitting Tuesday
Laureano is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers.
Laureano has a .454 OPS and 37 percent strikeout rate through 16 games in May and will head to the bench after starting the previous five contests. Gavin Sheets will shift to left field while Ty France picks up a start at first base Tuesday.

James McCann C | ARI
Diamondbacks' James McCann: Likely out 4-to-6 weeks
Manager Torey Lovullo said Tuesday that McCann (quad) will likely be sidelined for 4-to-6 weeks, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
McCann landed on the injured list Tuesday with a quad strain, and it doesn't seem like the Diamondbacks are going to get their backup catcher back anytime soon. Aramis Garcia was recalled from Triple-A to replenish Arizona's backstop depth behind Gabriel Moreno. Adrian Del Castillo could make an occasional appearance behind the plate as well.

Sterlin Thompson DH | COL
Rockies' Sterlin Thompson: Back in minors
The Rockies optioned Thompson to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.
Thompson went 1-for-8 with a strikeout after receiving his first call-up to the majors Friday. He'll now be pushed back to the minors as a result of Tyler Freeman's return from paternity leave, but Thompson is a candidate to return to Colorado later in the year. The 24-year-old outfielder has slashed .344/.491/.496 with four homers, 27 RBI, 27 runs scored and eight steals across 36 games at Triple-A.

Tyler Freeman RF | COL
Rockies' Tyler Freeman: Back from paternity leave
The Rockies reinstated Freeman from the paternity list Tuesday.
After spending some time away from the team to welcome a new addition to his family, Freeman will rejoin the active roster and reclaim his role as a utility depth piece. Sterlin Thompson was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move.
