  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: On base three times in loss

Bailey went 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Dodgers.

Bailey went 0-for-8 over the first three games following the All-Star break, but Monday was his fifth multi-hit effort in July. The catcher's hitting .255 (12-for-47) this month and has been steady overall with a .278/.351/.419 slash line, seven home runs, three steals, 32 RBI and 32 runs scored across 73 contests this season.

  • Giants' Tyler Fitzgerald: Stays hot in loss

Fitzgerald went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Dodgers.

Fitzgerald now has a homer in each of his last four games, and he's started three in a row. He was in the lineup over Thairo Estrada -- who is hitting .103 over eight games in July -- versus a right-hander for the second game in a row, though it's unclear if this is a real shift in the infield hierarchy or just manager Bob Melvin riding the hot hand. Fitzgerald is up to a .299/.365/.552 slash line with five homers, 11 RBI, 17 runs scored and seven stolen bases through 96 plate appearances.

  • Erik Miller RP | BOS

Giants' Erik Miller: Stuck with loss Monday

Miller (3-3) allowed a run on a hit and a walk while striking out one over two-thirds of an inning Monday, taking the loss versus the Dodgers.

Miller left runners on the corners in the eighth inning before getting the hook and Randy Rodriguez then gave up an RBI single to Teoscar Hernandez to put the decisive run on Miller's line. That ended the 26-year-old southpaw's scoreless streak at 10 innings. For the year, Miller has a 3.43 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 51:23 K:BB while adding 11 holds and three blown saves through 44.2 innings. With the Giants' rotation getting close to full health, it's likely Miller spends most of his time in a setup role after serving as an opener nine times earlier in the campaign.

  • Blake Snell SP | LAD

Giants' Blake Snell: Submits another quality start

Snell allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four over six innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Monday.

Snell's scoreless streak ended when Teoscar Hernandez hit a solo home run in the fourth inning, and the Dodgers' outfielder added a second run off the lefty with an RBI single in the sixth. It was still Snell's second quality start in a row, and it's all the more impressive he was able to put in a good effort against a tough opponent. While his ERA is at 5.83 with a 1.37 WHIP and 46:19 K:BB over 41.2 innings, he's trending in the right direction now that he appears to be fully healthy. His next start is expected to come at home versus the Rockies.

  • Dodgers' Teoscar Hernandez: Drives in all three runs in win

Hernandez went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and two additional RBI in Monday's 3-2 win over the Giants.

Hernandez powered the Dodgers' offense Monday. He got them on the board in the fourth inning with a solo shot, then added go-ahead RBI singles in the sixth and eighth frames. The outfielder has gone 13-for-35 (.371) during a nine-game hitting streak, and he's homered in each of the last two contests. He's up to a .268/.330/.491 slash line with 21 homers, 67 RBI, 50 runs scored and four stolen bases over 99 games this season.

  • Daniel Hudson RP | LAD

Dodgers' Daniel Hudson: Nabs seventh save

Hudson walked one and struck out two in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Monday's 3-2 win over the Giants.

Hudson's importance in the Dodgers' bullpen continues to grow, especially given Evan Phillips' recent struggles. Hudson has earned a save in each of his last four appearances, and he hasn't given up a run over his last 7.2 innings while posting a 9:4 K:BB in that span. The veteran right-hander is up to seven saves along with 13 holds this year, and he's pitched to a 1.52 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 45:8 K:BB through 41.1 innings overall.

  • River Ryan SP | DET

Dodgers' River Ryan: Fares well in debut

Ryan allowed an unearned run on four hits and three walks while striking out two over 5.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Monday.

A passed ball led to the only run on Ryan's line, as he made a pretty good first impression in the majors. He threw just 42 of 73 pitches for strikes however, and the three walks were a concern since he's displayed control issues throughout his minor-league career. It's unclear if the rookie right-hander will remain in the rotation, as the Dodgers are getting Tyler Glasnow (back) and Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) back soon. With two off days next week, it's unlikely the team goes with a six-man rotation for an extended period of time, so it may come down to Ryan or Justin Wrobleski for one spot until Walker Buehler (hip) is also ready to rejoin the team.

  • Bryce Harper 1B | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Crushes 23rd homer

Harper went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Monday's 7-2 loss at Minnesota.

The Philadelphia superstar opened the game's scoring with a titanic 424-foot, two-run homer off Bailey Ober in his first career at-bat at Target Field. After being slowed by hamstring and hand injuries to open this month, Harper is now hitting .242 (8-for-33) with three homers, seven runs scored, seven RBI and six walks in nine July games. Overall, the two-time NL MVP is slashing .297/.395/.578 across 375 plate appearances this season.

  • Ranger Suarez SP | BOS

Phillies' Ranger Suarez: Tagged with fifth loss

Suarez (10-5) took the loss Monday against Minnesota, allowing three runs on seven hits and one walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out four.

After pitching to a 1.75 ERA across his first 15 starts, the Philadelphia southpaw has struggled over his last five outings, generating an unsightly 6.67 ERA and 1.67 WHIP in 27 innings. Batters have started hitting Suarez better lately, as he's now allowed six or more knocks in eight consecutive appearances. However, this outing marks the 11th of the season in which the 28-year-old hasn't yielded a long ball. He sports a 0.7 HR/9, which would be a career best for a season in which he was predominantly a starter. Suarez currently lines up to make his next start against Cleveland at home this weekend.

  • Kyle Tyler RP | BAL

Marlins' Kyle Tyler: Tuesday promotion incoming

Tyler will be recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville to start Tuesday's game against the Orioles, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Tyler is set to face a difficult Baltimore lineup in what will be his fifth big-league appearance of the season. He's pitched well when called upon for the big club this season, posting a 3.38 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with a 10:8 K:BB across 16 innings.
