  • Mariners' Stuart Fairchild: Lands in Seattle

Fairchild signed a minor-league contract with the Mariners on Sunday. Fairchild elected free agency Friday after being outrighted off Cleveland's 40-man roster, and it didn't take long for him to find another home. He'll begin his tenure with the Mariners in the Arizona Complex League, but he'll likely end up landing in Triple-A, where he slashed .289/.417/.479 across 176 plate appearances while in the Guardians' farm system.

  • Stuart Fairchild: Elects free agency

Fairchild cleared waivers Friday and elected free agency, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. The 30-year-old outfielder lost his place on Cleveland's 40-man roster last Friday to make room for Cooper Ingle, and Fairchild will now explore his options on the open market after passing through waivers. He's put up just a .565 OPS in 27 plate appearances in the majors this season, but his .289/.417/.479 slash line at Triple-A should be enough for him to attract a minor-league deal.

  • Guardians' Stuart Fairchild: Booted from 40-man roster

The Guardians designated Fairchild for assignment Friday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. Cleveland needed the spot on the 40-man roster for prospect Cooper Ingle, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move. Fairchild took 27 plate appearances with the Guardians, but he struck out 14 times and recorded just three singles and seven walks.

  • Guardians' Stuart Fairchild: Steals base in loss

Fairchild entered Sunday's game as a pinch hitter working a walk and stealing a base in a 2-1 loss to the Astros. He finished the game in right field. Fairchild pinch hit for Steven Kwan against a left-handed reliver in the seventh and stole his second base since joining the Guardians late in May. The right-handed batter started just twice over the last seven contests -- both against southpaws -- and hasn't seen much of an uptick in playing time following the injuries to Chase DeLauter (ribs) and Angel Martinez (foot). Fairchild is likely to start against left-handers and serve as pinch hitter later in games.

  • Guardians' Stuart Fairchild: Moves around outfield in win

Fairchild started in center field and went 2-for-2 with a stolen base in Saturday's 3-1 win over Detroit. He was also hit by a pitch. Fairchild had to move mid-game, from center to right field, when Chase DeLauter (ribs) was removed. Later, Angel Martinez (foot) made an early exit. Fairchild's been used sparingly since his contract was selected from Triple-A Columbus at the end of May, but if DeLauter and/or Martinez need extended absences, Fairchild would see an uptick in playing time.

  • Guardians' Stuart Fairchild: Joining Cleveland roster

The Guardians selected Fairchild's contract from Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. With Steven Kwan going on the bereavement list, it opened a spot in the outfield for Fairchild, who has been swinging a hot bat at the Triple-A level this season. He's slashing .289/.417/.479 with five homers, 15 RBI, 31 runs scored, nine stolen bases and a 26:32 BB:K across 176 trips to the plate. Fairchild figures to see most of his chances against left-handed pitching with Cleveland.

  • Guardians' Stuart Fairchild: Bound for Triple-A

Fairchild is expected to open the regular season at Triple-A Columbus, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. Fairchild, who was in camp as a non-roster invitee, appears to have lost out on his bid for a roster spot to Angel Martinez, who raked (1.196 OPS) this spring. The 30-year-old Fairchild has an upward mobility clause in his contract; if another team wants to add him to their 26-man or 40-man roster, the Guardians would have to decide whether they would match the proposition for part ways. Fairchild can play all three outfield spots and could be of value to another club.

  • Guardians' Stuart Fairchild: Headed to WBC

Fairchild departed training camp and will compete in the World Baseball Classic for Chinese Tapei, Joe Noga of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Fairchild appeared in three games prior to leaving camp and remains in the mix for a spot in the outfield. He's gone 2-for-7 with two runs scored in Cactus League competition.

  • Rays' Stuart Fairchild: Activated and DFA'd

The Rays activated Fairchild (oblique) from the 60-day injured list and designated him for assignment Monday. Fairchild missed most of the second half with an oblique strain. While he will be recovered well ahead of spring training, the Rays have elected not to put him back on their 40-man roster. Fairchild is a career .223/.305/.384 hitter across parts of five major-league seasons.

  • Braves' Stuart Fairchild: Returns from IL

Atlanta activated Fairchild (finger) from the 10-day injured list Monday. Fairchild had been shelved since late May with a dislocated pinky finger but is ready to roll after going 5-for-12 in three rehab contests. He will see occasional playing time in the outfield against left-handed pitching.

  • Braves' Stuart Fairchild: Starting rehab assignment

Fairchild (finger) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. Fairchild went on the 10-day injured list two weeks ago with a dislocated pinky finger but has been cleared to play in rehab games. Since his absence has been brief, the outfielder shouldn't require too many rehab at-bats before being activated.

  • Braves' Stuart Fairchild: Moves to injured list

Atlanta placed Fairchild (finger) on the 10-day injured list Friday. Fairchild suffered a dislocated pinky finger during Thursday's doubleheader, so this move to the injured list is hardly a surprise. Jose Azocar was added to the big-league roster to bolster Atlanta's outfield depth.

  • Braves' Stuart Fairchild: Likely to be sidelined

Fairchild (finger) is likely to be placed on the injured list Friday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Fairchild dislocated his finger on a stolen-base attempt in the first game of Atlanta's doubleheader Thursday. No official roster move has been made, but Fairchild will likely be out for at least the early portion of June.

  • Braves' Stuart Fairchild: Suffers dislocated finger

Fairchild exited Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader against the Phillies due to a dislocated pinky finger, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Despite injuring his finger on a steal attempt Thursday afternoon, Fairchild is reportedly still available to serve as a pinch runner during the nightcap -- likely while wearing a sliding mitt this time. The 29-year-old has appeared in 21 games for Atlanta this season and owns a .182/.250/.273 slash line through 36 plate appearances.

  • Braves' Stuart Fairchild: Swipes bag in Thursday's start

Fairchild went 0-for-2 with a stolen base in Thursday's extra-innings win over the Phillies. Getting the start in right field and batting seventh, Fairchild reached on a fielder's choice in the second inning and promptly got himself into scoring position with his first steal of the season. Jarred Kelenic pinch hit for him in the seventh inning once southpaw Jesus Luzardo was out of the game for the Phillies. The 29-year-old Fairchild has gone 1-for-7 with a triple and a run scored in four appearances since being picked up to bolster Atlanta's depleted outfield at the end of March.

  • Braves' Stuart Fairchild: Starting Wednesday

Fairchild is starting in right field and batting seventh against the Dodgers on Wednesday. Fairchild will make his 2025 debut with Atlanta on Wednesday after being acquired from the Reds on Monday. With Ronald Acuna (knee) on the IL and Jurickson Profar suspended 80 games for violating MLB's policy on performance-enhancing substances, Fairchild could see semi-regular starts in the outfield corners. The 29-year-old appeared in 94 games for Cincinnati in 2024 and slashed .215/.286/.368 with 13 stolen bases, eight home runs and 30 RBI across 233 plate appearances.

  • Braves' Stuart Fairchild: Traded to Atlanta

Atlanta acquired Fairchild from the Reds on Monday in exchange for cash considerations, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Fairchild had been designated for assignment and will now join a new 40-man roster. The 29-year-old is a career .224/.308/.389 hitter over parts of four big-league seasons. He is out of minor-league options, so Fairchild will report to the major-league club.

  • Reds' Stuart Fairchild: Pushed off 40-man roster

The Reds designated Fairchild for assignment Thursday. The transaction was fully expected, as the Reds informed Jacob Hurtubise and Blake Dunn on Wednesday that they had won out over Fairchild in the competition for the two available reserve outfield spots on the Opening Day roster. Fairchild didn't have any minor-league options remaining, so the Reds will have to move him off the 40-man roster and risk losing him to waivers.

  • Reds' Stuart Fairchild: Back in action after thumb surgery

Fairchild (thumb) has gone 0-for-5 with a strikeout through his first two Cactus League games. He'll be in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels, with all three of his starts having come in center field. Though he missed the final month of the 2024 season while recovering from a right thumb sprain that required surgery, Fairchild appears to have had a normal offseason and will be looking to compete for a short-side platoon role in the Cincinnati outfield throughout the spring. He has no minor-league options remaining, which may work in his favor in his bid for a spot on the Opening Day roster.

  • Reds' Stuart Fairchild: Out for season

The Reds transferred Fairchild (thumb) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list Wednesday. Fairchild just landed on the 10-day IL on Tuesday with a sprained left thumb, an injury which had been bothering him for a while, per Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. He is expected to undergo surgery and will miss the remainder of the season. Fairchild finished with a .215/.286/.368 batting line, eight home runs and 13 stolen bases over 94 contests for the Reds.
