Chris Sale SP | ATL
Braves' Chris Sale: Rare short outing
Sale allowed three runs (two earned) on nine hits and two walks while striking out 10 over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus Milwaukee on Wednesday.
This was just the second time all year Sale has failed to finish five innings. It was also the first time in 10 starts he gave up more than two runs. He threw 62 of 96 pitches for strikes and reached double-digit strikeouts for the fourth time this year, but he simply wasn't very efficient against a challenging offense. Sale is now at a 2.75 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 165:30 K:BB through 127.2 innings over 21 starts this season. He'll look to bounce back in his next start, which is tentatively projected to be at San Francisco next week.

Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Three-hit effort in win
Hoskins went 3-for-5 with a walk and a run scored in Wednesday's 8-5 win over Atlanta.
Hoskins extended his hitting streak to 12 games, and he's logged multiple hits in his last two contests. During the 12-game hitting streak, he's gone 15-for-46 (.326) with four home runs, nine RBI and nine runs scored. The first baseman isn't known to hit for much of an average, but his recent run of success has lifted his average from .213 to .229 for the year. He's added a .758 OPS, 19 homers, 57 RBI, 40 runs scored and two stolen bases across 89 contests this season.

Joseph Ortiz SS | MIL
Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Productive in win
Ortiz went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one walk, two RBI and one run scored in Wednesday's 8-5 win over Atlanta.
This was Ortiz's second multi-hit effort in a row after he went a mere 7-for-50 (.140) over his first 14 games of the second half. The infielder also logged multiple RBI in a game for the first time since June 15. Despite his struggles at the plate, Ortiz has maintained steady playing time at third base. He's now at a .253/.353/.404 slash line with seven home runs, six stolen bases, 35 RBI, 39 runs scored, 16 doubles and three triples over 93 contests this year.

Jackson Chourio LF | MIL
Brewers' Jackson Chourio: On base four times in win
Chourio went 3-for-5 with a walk, two stolen bases and one run scored in Wednesday's 8-5 win over Atlanta.
Chourio has 11 multi-hit efforts over his 15 games since the All-Star break, going 26-for-66 (.394) with five steals and 11 RBI in that span. The rookie outfielder also recorded multiple steals in a game for the second time this year. Chourio is up to a .272/.316/.421 slash line with 15 thefts, 12 home runs, 46 RBI, 51 runs scored and 15 doubles through his first 100 major-league games. The 20-year-old continues to hold down an everyday role in left field, which includes leadoff duties versus southpaws.
-
Blake Perkins CF | CLE
Brewers' Blake Perkins: Three hits, two steals in win
Perkins went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two stolen bases in Wednesday's 8-5 win over Atlanta.
Perkins had a pair of go-ahead hits, delivering an RBI single in the fifth inning and a two-run single in the sixth. He was one of four Brewers to log multiple hits in the contest. He's had inconsistent playing time, but the switch hitter typically is in the lineup versus southpaws, as Perkins continues to platoon with Garrett Mitchell in center field. Perkins is at a .260/.333/.367 slash line with 16 steals, six home runs, 34 RBI and 40 runs scored over 315 plate appearances.

Freddy Peralta SP | TB
Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Allows four runs in win
Peralta (7-6) allowed four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out six over five innings, earning the win over Atlanta on Wednesday.
Atlanta started hot with two runs in the first inning and Austin Riley added a two-run home run in the fifth, but Milwaukee was able to take the lead back before Nick Mears took over for Peralta in the bottom of the sixth. This was Peralta's first win since June 30 -- over the five starts in between, he posted a 4.10 ERA and 29:12 K:BB across 26.1 innings. He's at a 4.02 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 155:47 K:BB through 125.1 innings over 23 starts this year. The right-hander's next start is projected to be another tough matchup at home versus the Dodgers.

Ryan Feltner SP | COL
Rockies' Ryan Feltner: Trip to IL likely
Feltner was removed from Wednesday's game against the Mets due to shoulder soreness and a lat issue, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.
Manager Bud Black added that Feltner will likely be headed to the injured list as a result of his injuries. The 27-year-old righty was able to get through just one inning during his start Wednesday, during which he gave up one earned run on two hits and struck out a batter. The Rockies haven't yet named a replacement for Feltner in the rotation, though the spot could be given to German Marquez (elbow), who is nearing a return from the injured list.

Jurickson Profar LF | ATL
Padres' Jurickson Profar: X-rays negative
X-rays on Profar's right knee came back negative after Wednesday's game against Pittsburgh, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Profar was forced out of Wednesday's game after he took a pitch off his knee and struggled to run the bases in the sixth inning, but he seems to have escaped the incident without suffering any significant injuries. He's being viewed as day-to-day for now, and Bryce Johnson would be a likely option to start if Profar is unable to play in Thursday's series finale.

Ryan Helsley RP | BAL
Cardinals' Ryan Helsley: Records 36th save
Helsley allowed a hit and a walk while striking out two over a scoreless inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Rays.
Helsley allowed multiple baserunners for the third time in four appearances in August, but he was able to work out of the jam to earn his second save in as many days. Since the start of July, he's given up 11 hits and five walks over 11.2 innings, allowing five runs (four earned) while converting six of eight save chances in that span. The prolonged shakiness has led to his ratios looking less dominant than they did early in the year, but he's still posted a 2.72 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 57:21 K:BB across 49.2 innings while converting 36 of 40 save chances.
