Bailey isn't in the Giants' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

After going 3-for-17 with six strikeouts since returning from the injured list, Bailey will get a chance to rest Wednesday while Curt Casali starts behind the plate and bats ninth.

Conforto (side) will serve as the Giants' designated hitter and bat third Wednesday against Arizona, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Side tightness caused the Giants to scratch Conforto from their lineup ahead of Tuesday's contest, but the issue appears to have subsided prior to Wednesday's game. The 31-year-old has gone 5-for-34 with two home runs and four RBI across his last 10 games.

Higashioka isn't in the Padres' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers.

After going 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored during Tuesday's win, Higashioka will give way to Luis Campusano behind the plate Wednesday.

Hoskins isn't in the Brewers' lineup for Wednesday's game against St. Louis.

Hoskins will get a chance to collect himself Wednesday as he continues to slump at the plate, going 3-for-32 with two home runs and 11 strikeouts over his last nine games. Jake Bauers will get the nod at first base instead.

Contreras isn't in the Brewers' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

Contreras will get a day to regroup Wednesday after going 0-for-14 with four strikeouts and five walks across his last four games. While he rests, Eric Haase will catch for right-hander Colin Rea and bat ninth.

McCutchen was scratched from the Pirates' lineup ahead of Wednesday's game versus the Cubs, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

It's unknown why Pittsburgh took McCutchen out of its lineup, but the team should offer some clarification in the near future. In the meantime, Oneil Cruz will move into the DH spot while Michael Taylor patrols center field.

The Cubs placed Steele on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with left elbow tendinitis, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Steele had to be scratched from his scheduled start Tuesday due to inflammation in his elbow, and he'll now officially sit out for another few turns through the rotation following his latest diagnosis. Kyle Hendricks started in Steele's place against the Pirates and figures to serve as Chicago's fifth starter while the left-hander is sidelined.

Walker isn't in the Cardinals' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Walker will get a chance to clear his head Wednesday after going 0-for-8 with four strikeouts over the first two games of the series. His absence will move Alec Burleson into the outfield with Nolan Arenado serving as St. Louis' DH, opening up third base for Jose Fermin.

The Marlins optioned Soriano to Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday.

Soriano has managed just a 6.26 ERA in 19 appearances out of Miami's bullpen this season. He'll be replaced by Anthony Veneziano, who was claimed off waivers earlier this week and has now been officially added to the active roster.

Laureano is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

Laureano has recently operated as Atlanta's primary left fielder, but he has a .646 OPS in his past nine games and will take a seat Wednesday. Jarred Kelenic will start in left field and bat sixth against Colorado righty Bradley Blalock.
