Tatis went 2-for-6 with a run and an RBI in Wednesday's 6-5 extra-inning win against Detroit.

Tatis capped San Diego's comeback from an early five-run deficit with a walk-off single in the 10th frame. It was the first walk-off hit of Tatis' career and his first RBI since returning Sept. 2 from a lengthy stay on the injured list. He's gone 2-for-10 in his first two games back from the absence.

Candelario (toe) has yet to resume baseball activities, MLB.com reports.

Candelario is almost three weeks removed from suffering a fractured left great toe and remains limited to rehabilitation work due to lingering discomfort. It shouldn't take long for him to become game-ready once the soreness subsides, but it's not clear when/if that might happen before the end of the season.

Abbott (shoulder) began a throwing program Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Abbott was shut down for nearly two weeks with a left shoulder strain but has been cleared to ramp things back up again. It's going to take him a while to be built back up to start a game for the Reds, but the hope is that he can make it back before the end of the season. Abbott has collected a 3.72 ERA and 114:52 K:BB over 138 innings covering 25 starts for Cincinnati in 2024.

Pederson is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest in San Francisco.

It's a tough left-hander on the hill for the Giants in this one, so the left-handed hitting Pederson will grab a seat. Switch-hitting Josh Bell will get the start at designated hitter for the Diamondbacks.

Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) has been cleared to begin baseball activities, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Encarnacion-Strand underwent surgery in mid-July to repair ligaments in his fractured right wrist. He has already been ruled out for the remainder of the regular season, but the 24-year-old will hope to have a normal offseason after getting the go-ahead to ramp things up this month.

Martini (thumb) has targeted Sept. 17 as the start of a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville, MLB.com reports.

Martini underwent left thumb surgery in early July and is getting close to being ready for game action. The 34-year-old will hope to make it back to the Reds later this month.

Gibaut (forearm) is targeting Sept. 15 as the start of a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville, MLB.com reports.

Gibaut has been out all of this season following forearm surgery and more recently a calf strain. He will need a handful of rehab outings given how much time he's missed, but a return later this month is doable if he can avoid another setback.

McLain (shoulder/rib) is pain-free and has been cleared to resume baseball activities, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

McLain's surgically repaired left shoulder no longer appears to be an issue, and he also appears to be past the more recent stress reaction in his rib cage. The Reds have not ruled out a late-season return for McLain, but they'll wait to see how he responds to workouts.

Greene (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Thursday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

It would appear to be the first time he's thrown off a mound since he went down with right elbow inflammation in mid-August. As long as Greene gets through Thursday's bullpen session with no hiccups, he will have another one Sunday. The righty will continue to be built back up as he aims to rejoin the Reds' rotation before the end of the season, but he would appear to still be at least a couple weeks away.

Blackmon went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI on Wednesday against Atlanta.

Blackmon has seen his playing time dwindle of late, but he returned to the lineup after sitting the Rockies' last two games. He's been productive in the short term when given an opportunity, driving in four and scoring twice across his last six contests while going 7-for-22.
