Herz (4-7) yielded a run on four hits and a walk over five innings Friday, striking out five and earning a win over the Marlins.

Herz turned in three scoreless frames before coughing up a solo homer to Otto Lopez in the fourth inning. It was Herz's second straight win after going 0-3 over his previous five outings. He hasn't thrown six innings in a start since Aug. 14 but has registered a 2.49 ERA over five appearances since then. Herz owns a 3.70 ERA with a 98:30 K:BB through 80.1 innings this season. He's projected for a road matchup with the Mets next week.

Sosa (back) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Back spasms have kept Sosa on the injured list since Sunday, though he has already been cleared to participate in minor-league games. Assuming everything goes smoothly in Triple-A, it seems the 28-year-old has a good chance of returning to Philadelphia once eligible Tuesday.

Bohm (hand) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Bohm has been on the injured list since Sept. 6 due to a strained left hand, though he hasn't played in a game since late August. He'll now head out to the minors to play a few tune-up games, and manager Rob Thomson said that the 28-year-old could return to the Phillies on Monday for the start of their upcoming series in Milwaukee.

Quintana (9-9) earned the win Friday over the Phillies, allowing three hits over seven scoreless innings. He struck out four.

Quintana continued a stellar run Friday, blanking a potent Phillies offense on 94 pitches (62 strikes). He's won three straight starts while allowing just one earned run in his last four outings (25 innings). After a shaky start to the year, Quintana's lowered his ERA to 3.91 with a 1.27 WHIP and 122:59 K:BB across 159 innings this season. He'll look to keep rolling in his next start, currently lined up for next week at home against the Nationals.

Cabrera (4-7) allowed two unearned runs on one hit and one walk over six innings Friday, striking out nine and taking a loss against Washington.

Cabrera's own error contributed to a two-run first inning, but he settling in for a dominant outing. He racked up nine punchouts for the first time since May 2 and generated 16 whiffs, including seven with his changeup. Cabrera has produced an 18:4 K:BB while allowing only one earned run over his last 18.1 innings. Since returning from the injured list in July, he's registered a 3.72 ERA, lowering his season mark to 4.55 through 89 innings. Cabrera is currently in line for a home matchup against the Dodgers next week.

Finnegan allowed a hit in a scoreless inning and earned a save over the Marlins on Friday.

Finnegan worked around a two-out single by Jesus Sanchez to finish off the 4-1 victory. It was Finnegan's 37th save of the year and his first since recording two during a Sept. 7 doubleheader against the Pirates. He owns a 3.36 ERA with a 56:20 K:BB through 59 innings. Finnegan has converted 14 of his last 15 save chances despite registering a 4.79 ERA during that span (21 appearances).

Lindor was removed from Friday's game versus the Phillies with lower-back soreness.

Lindor went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored before his back forced him out of the game in the seventh inning. It's unclear how severe his injury is, but Eddy Alvarez could be in line to start at shortstop if Lindor needs to sit out Saturday's contest.

An MRI on Friday revealed no structural damage to Fitzgerald's lower back, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Fitzgerald left in the third inning of Thursday's game against the Brewers due to lower-back tightness, an issue that had flared up during pre-game workouts. Imaging didn't reveal anything serious, and the 25-year-old is listed as day-to-day. Fitzgerald is not in the Giants' lineup Friday against the Padres, and Brett Wisely will start at shortstop and bat eighth, per Rubin.

Stone (shoulder) is expected to begin a throwing program this weekend, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Stone landed on the 15-day injured list Sept. 6 due to right shoulder inflammation. The Dodgers' rotation is short-handed with Clayton Kershaw (toe) and Tyler Glasnow (elbow) also on the IL, but Stone at least has taken a step in the right direction with the playoffs just around the corner. Stone has an 11-5 record across 25 starts this season with a 3.53 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 140.1 innings.

The Giants optioned Matos to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday.

Matos has gone 2-for-10 with a home run and two runs scored across four games since rejoining the Giants on Sept. 3. Rather than keeping six outfielders on their big-league roster, San Francisco will now send him back to Triple-A in favor of infielder Donovan Walton, who was recalled from Sacramento in a corresponding move.
