Young exited Thursday's game against the Cubs due to a shoulder injury, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Young appeared to suffer the injury on an attempted stolen base in the second inning. Manager Dave Martinez said Young's shoulder went numb, though he hadn't gotten any additional information from trainers before he spoke to the media.

Conforto went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Orioles.

Conforto's playing time has been on the rise lately. He's driven in six runs over his last four games while going 6-for-13 with two homers in that span. The outfielder's improved hitting has put pressure on Jerar Encarnacion for playing time at designated hitter versus right-handed pitchers. Conforto's season has been a mixed bag -- his 18 homers are his most since 2019, but he's slashing just .234/.308/.441 with 62 RBI, 51 runs scored, 25 doubles and three triples over 123 games.

Cabrera (4-8) took the loss Thursday, allowing seven runs on four hits and five walks over 2.1 innings against the Dodgers. He struck out three.

Cabrera allowed single runs in each of the first two innings, then lost his control in the third, tossing just 10 of 26 pitches for strikes while allowing a single, three walks and hitting a batter prior to being pulled with one out in the inning. Five total runs crossed in the frame, all charged to Cabrera. He entered the game having given up just one earned run over his previous three starts but ran into a buzzsaw Thursday. Cabrera is tentatively slated to make one more start this season, set to take place when the Marlins travel to Minnesota to take on the Twins.

Walker (9-4) allowed two runs on two hits and struck out two over two-thirds of an inning to take the loss Thursday versus the Orioles.

Walker allowed multiple runs for the first time since July 9 as he gave up a walk-off, two-run home run to Anthony Santander in the ninth inning. The Giants' closer had not given up an earned run over his previous 20.2 innings, and he entered Thursday on a 12-inning scoreless streak. He avoided a blown save since this misstep came in a tie game. Walker has eight saves, four blown saves and 22 holds with a 1.99 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and a 98:17 K:BB through 77 innings this season.

Bellinger went 2-for-4 with three RBI in Thursday's 7-6 win over the Nationals.

Bellinger was one of four Chicago hitters with multiple hits, and he paced the team with the three RBI. While the 29-year-old has taken a step back from last season, when he recorded 23 home runs and 97 RBI to go with an .881 OPS, he's still been fairly effective in 2024. Bellinger has 18 long balls this year, and he's now up to 73 RBI and a .767 OPS.

Flaherty (13-7) earned the win Thursday, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks over six innings against the Marlins. He struck out five.

Flaherty cruised to the victory Thursday, posting a quality start as he was provided 14 runs of support prior to his removal from the game. It was a nice rebound for Flaherty, who was pulled following a season-low three frames in his last start, the only time he's failed to reach five innings across 27 outings this season. Flaherty looks to be in line to make one more start this season, tentatively scheduled to take place against the Padres.

Suzuki went 2-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Thursday's 7-6 win over the Nationals.

Suzuki blasted his 21st home run of the season in the third inning, which pushed him past the previous career best of 20 that he set last year. The outfielder needs five more RBI and runs scored to set new career highs in those categories as well. On top of that, Suzuki has recorded a career-high 15 stolen bases, making it a productive fantasy campaign overall for the 30-year-old.

Swanson went 3-for-4 with four runs scored in Thursday's 7-6 win over the Nationals.

The four runs in a game are easily a season high for Swanson, as his previous best was two runs, which he did on several occasions. The shortstop has been solid this month with a .319 batting average, three home runs, 10 RBI and 19 runs scored through 17 games. Swanson should continue to see regular playing time as the Cubs try to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.

Smith went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 5-1 win against the Brewers.

Smith capped the scoring in the contest with a two-run shot in the eighth inning. The long ball was his first since he went deep three times against the Astros on Sept. 8. He's been hitting well of late, though, compiling a six-game hitting streak during which he's batting .474 (9-for-19) with four doubles, five runs and five RBI. His path to regular at-bats will take a hit when Lourdes Gurriel returns from a calf injury, which could happen this weekend.

Happ went 3-for-5 with two runs scored in Thursday's 7-6 win over the Nationals.

Happ went 0-for-4 in Wednesday's game, but before that he had hits in six straight contests, and he got back into a groove Thursday. The veteran outfielder has already set or tied career highs with 25 home runs and 85 RBI this season, and his OPS is sitting above .800 for the first time since 2020. Happ has also played in 146 games so far, putting him within reach of the 150-game plateau for the third straight year.
