Marte is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Cubs.

It will be a day off for Marte, who has now started 10 of the last 12 games for the Reds while bouncing between third base and designated hitter. The Reds are going with Santiago Espinal at the hot corner and Ty France at DH in the series opener.

India (head) will start at second base and bat leadoff in Friday's game versus the Cubs.

India had to exit Tuesday's contest against the Guardians after being hit in the head by a pitch and did not play Wednesday. However, he cleared concussion protocol and is ready to roll after the Reds' team off day Thursday.

Busch (triceps) will start at designated hitter and bat fifth in Friday's contest against the Reds.

Busch missed one game with a sore triceps as a result of a hit-by-pitch, but he's feeling well enough to play after Thursday's team off day. Cody Bellinger is at first base in this one while Kevin Alcantara handles right field.

Suzuki (ankle) remains out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Reds.

This will be the second straight start Suzuki has missed after he sprained his right ankle in Tuesday's game versus the Phillies. The Cubs have not ruled out a return at some point this weekend, but he's day-to-day. Michael Busch is at designated hitter in Friday's series opener.

De La Cruz went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Thursday against the Brewers.

De La Cruz has struggled since joining the Pirates, as he's hitting only .196 with three homers and 17 RBI across 42 games. He has managed to go yard twice in his last seven starts, also knocking in five in that span.

Tovar went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a run scored Thursday against the Cardinals.

Tovar has put together a productive close to the season, with Thursday's performance marking his fifth multi-RBI performance in his last 14 games. He's also struck out multiple times in seven of those contests, inflating his strikeout rate to 29.2 percent on the season. That swing and miss has been covered up by a .344 BABIP, something that may not continue into 2025 even with the benefit of Coors Field as his home park.

Toglia went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, and two RBI on Thursday against the Cardinals.

Toglia snapped out of a very short slump, as he entered Thursday's contest with only one hit across 14 at-bats in his last four games. He's enjoyed a breakout season and has picked things up in the second half, maintaining a .340 wOBA and .782 OPS with 35 runs scored and 21 RBI across 62 games.

Schunk went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored Thursday against the Cardinals.

Schunk has started three straight games at second base with Brendan Rodgers (hamstring) sidelined and has taken advantage by collecting multiple hits in each contest. Overall, he's gone 6-for-10 with four runs scored and four RBI. Schunk hasn't gotten regular playing time since being promoted to the majors June 29, but he could make a case for playing time in 2025 with a continued strong finish and a good showing in spring training.

Tatis went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Thursday's loss to the Dodgers.

Tatis singled in his first at-bat and later drew a walk in the eighth before going on to steal his 11th base of the campaign. He's now hit safely in 13 of his last 14 games (including one game in which he only entered as a pinch hitter), batting .333 (19-for-57) over that stretch with seven homers, 12 RBI and 11 runs scored.

Buehler did not factor into the decision in a win over the Padres on Thursday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk over five innings. He struck out one.

Buehler avoided much damage despite allowing at least one hit in four of his five innings of work. It marked the fifth consecutive start in which he was able to get through at least five innings, and he's allowed one run or fewer in two of his last three outings. Buehler did, however, post just one strikeout in Thursday's no-decision after fanning a season-high nine batters in his previous trip to the mound.
