Oliver Dunn SS | TB
Brewers' Oliver Dunn: On bench for opener
Dunn is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees.
Though he'll be on the bench Thursday versus Yankees lefty Carlos Rodon, the lefty-hitting Dunn looks poised to open the season as Milwaukee's primary option at third base versus right-handed pitching. Vinny Capra will get the nod at the hot corner Thursday and will bat eighth.

Dylan Crews RF | WAS
Nationals' Dylan Crews: Down in No. 8 spot for opener
Crews will start in right field and bat eighth in Thursday's season opener against the Phillies.
Crews spent most of his time in the leadoff spot last season and hit either first or second throughout spring training, so it's a surprise that he's down so low in the batting order for Opening Day. Nationals manager Dave Martinez has all left-handed or switch hitters in the first five spots of his lineup Thursday against righty Zack Wheeler.

Jared Jones SP | PIT
Pirates' Jared Jones: Officially placed on injured list
The Pirates placed Jones (elbow) on the 15-day injured list Thursday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.
Jones has damage to the UCL in his right elbow but will attempt to treat the injury with rest and rehab rather than surgery. He will be shut down from throwing for six weeks before ramping back up. The righty will be a candidate to be shifted to the 60-day injured list when/if the Pirates need a roster spot, as it's unlikely he'll be back before June.

Sam Hilliard LF | COL
Rockies' Sam Hilliard: Designated for assignment
The Rockies designated Hilliard for assignment Thursday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
The move frees a spot on the 40-man roster for Mickey Moniak, who was officially signed Thursday. Hilliard had an .812 OPS in 58 games with Colorado last season, but he posted a .489 OPS and 48.2 percent strikeout rate this spring and it cost him a job. He could draw interest on waivers from a team in need of outfield help.

Ryan Weathers SP | NYY
Marlins' Ryan Weathers: Officially placed on injured list
The Marlins placed Weathers (forearm) on the 15-day injured list Thursday due to a left flexor muscle strain.
Weathers is expected to be shelved for at least the first month or so of the season with the injury. According to MLB.com, Weathers has resumed gripping exercises with the baseball, but he's not yet doing any throwing. With Weathers and Edward Cabrera (blister) on the shelf, the Marlins have included Connor Gillispie and Valente Bellozo in their Opening Day rotation.

Jesus Sanchez LF | ARI
Marlins' Jesus Sanchez: Lands on 10-day IL
The Marlins placed Sanchez on the 10-day injured list Thursday due to a left oblique strain.
Sanchez suffered the injury in mid-March. Per Christina De Nicola of MLB.com, Sanchez recently began a hitting progression, but it's not clear if he'll be ready to come off the IL when first eligible April 4. With Sanchez on the shelf, the Marlins will deploy Kyle Stowers and Griffin Conine as their starting corner outfielders in Thursday's season opener versus the Pirates.
