Marlins' Connor Norby: IL move made official
The Marlins placed Norby (oblique) on the 10-day injured list Thursday.
Norby was diagnosed with a Grade 1 left oblique strain and will be sidelined to begin the season, paving the way for Graham Pauley, Eric Wagaman and Jonah Bride to see extra playing time at third base. According to MLB.com, Norby resumed baseball activities Wednesday, but he's still expected to be sidelined until around late April.

The Marlins placed Cronin on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a left hip strain.
According to MLB.com, Cronin is expected to be out at least a month due to the hip injury, which he sustained late in spring training. The 27-year-old righty will likely handle a setup role out of the Miami bullpen once healthy.

Marlins' Edward Cabrera: Officially goes on IL
The Marlins placed Cabrera (finger) on the 15-day injured list Thursday.
Cabrera threw a simulated game Wednesday and hopes to be ready to rejoin the Miami rotation by mid-April as he recovers from a blister on his right middle finger. Connor Gillispie and Valente Bellozo will fill rotation spots to begin the season while Cabrera and Ryan Weathers (forearm) are on the shelf.

Marlins' Graham Pauley: Called up, starting in opener
The Marlins recalled Pauley from Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday.
Pauley will bat eighth and start at third base in Thursday's season opener versus the Pirates. He'll get reps at the hot corner along with Eric Wagaman and Jonah Bride while Connor Norby (oblique) is on the injured list to begin the season. Pauley produced a .784 OPS over 11 Grapefruit League games.

Reds' Stuart Fairchild: Pushed off 40-man roster
The Reds designated Fairchild for assignment Thursday.
The transaction was fully expected, as the Reds informed Jacob Hurtubise and Blake Dunn on Wednesday that they had won out over Fairchild in the competition for the two available reserve outfield spots on the Opening Day roster. Fairchild didn't have any minor-league options remaining, so the Reds will have to move him off the 40-man roster and risk losing him to waivers.

The Phillies placed Wilson (oblique) on the 10-day injured list Thursday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
Wilson suffered a left oblique strain early on in spring training. He will be eligible to return from the IL on April 3, but it's not clear at this point how far along Wilson is in his recovery.

The Phillies placed Suarez on the 15-day injured list Thursday due to low-back stiffness, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
Suarez has resumed throwing on flat ground as he overcomes a back issue but is expected to miss the first few weeks of the season. Taijuan Walker will occupy a spot in the Philadelphia rotation until Suarez is ready to make his 2025 debut.

Reds' Gavin Lux: Batting cleanup in opener
Lux will start in left field and bat cleanup Thursday against the Giants.
With Austin Hays (calf) shelved, Lux slides into the lineup in the corner outfield and also gets a prime spot in the lineup, batting behind TJ Friedl, Matt McLain and Elly De La Cruz. Most of Lux's playing time could ultimately come at third base, but he's in line for regular reps in left field versus righties while Hays is out.

The Cubs placed Brujan on the 10-day injured list Tuesday due to a right elbow sprain.
Brujan sustained the injury over the weekend, when he attempted to make a defensive play. He'll be eligible to come off the IL on Wednesday, though it's unclear if he'll be ready to play by then. Once activated, Brujan is projected to fill a utility role for the Cubs.
