Cavalli acknowledged after Sunday's 11-5 loss to the Pirates that he dealt with dehydration during his start, Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal reports. "It was a weird thing," Cavalli said. "I knew it was going to be hot. These last two or three days, I've been trying to prepare my body as best I can for it. Drinking a lot of fluids, the right kind of fluids. I don't know why my body reacted the way it did to it."

After turning in a 13-strikeout gem over seven innings in a win over the Red Sox on Tuesday, Cavalli was unable to maintain that dominant form in his second start of the week. The high temperatures in Washington, D.C. appeared to take an early toll on Cavalli, who saw his fastball velocity drop from 97.6 mph in the first inning to 96.1 mph in the second inning and 94.2 mph in the third. Cavalli was able to stay in the game after a visit on the mound from manager Blake Butera and a team trainer, but he was pulled after walking the next batter he faced. The right-hander ended up taking a no-decision, finishing the afternoon with four runs allowed (three earned) on six hits and two walks across 2.1 innings and 63 pitches. While Cavalli should be rehydrated and ready to go when his turn in the rotation comes up again during next weekend's series against the Yankees, he's still awaiting the results of his appeal of the seven-game suspension he received last week for his role in the benches-clearing incident that took place during his start against Boston. If the appeal process is completed within the next few days and the ban is upheld, Cavalli wouldn't pitch again until after the All-Star break.

Burke went 18-for-46 (.391) with six home runs, five doubles, 26 RBI, three stolen bases and a 1:6 BB:K over his last 11 games with Double-A Biloxi.

Burke went throw a slow stretch after hitting six home runs over his first six games of the season, but he has gotten hot again in a big way. The 23-year-old now has 18 long balls, 18 doubles, 17 steals and an .899 OPS on the season -- marks that only solidify his stance as one of Milwaukee's better prospects.

Adames went 1-for-4 with two runs scored and a walk in Sunday's 7-6 loss to the Rockies.

Adames singled in the second inning before coming around to score, and he drew a walk in the sixth before scoring again. The 30-year-old shortstop has recorded at least one hit in seven of his last nine outings, batting .313 with six runs scored, three RBI, a home run and a stolen base in 36 plate appearances during that span. Overall, he's slashing .232/.279/.428 with 43 runs scored, 34 RBI, 14 long balls and two stolen bases across 355 plate appearances this season.

Winn (elbow) allowed one hit and one walk in one scoreless inning during Single-A San Jose's 7-2 win over Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday.

Winn began his rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League before quickly advancing to Single-A. He allowed a single and a walk to the first two batters he faced Sunday, though he managed to escape the inning without giving up a run and threw 11 of his 17 pitches for strikes. Per Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News, Giants manager Tony Vitello said Sunday that Winn is close to returning to the big leagues, leaving the door open for a potential return before the All-Star break.

Atlanta designated Carrasco for assignment Monday.

The transaction comes one day after Carrasco was knocked around for five runs over two innings in a loss to the Mets. Carrasco has wound up back in the organization and eventually the majors several times this season after being removed from Atlanta's 40-man roster, and it's possible that will happen again.

Atlanta recalled Ritchie from Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday.

One day after being optioned to Triple-A, Ritchie will rejoin Atlanta after Martin Perez exited his start in Sunday's loss to the Mets due to a forearm contusion and was moved to the 15-day injured list. Though the loss of Perez creates a need for a fifth starter, Bryce Elder is expected to slot back into the rotation during the upcoming week after having his previous turn skipped. As such, Ritchie will serve as a multi-inning option out of the Atlanta bullpen for the team's final seven games before the All-Star break, per Mark Bowman of MLB.com.

Atlanta placed Perez on the 15-day injured list Monday due to a left forearm contusion.

Perez exited his start in Sunday's loss to the Mets after being struck in the pitching arm by a line drive. An X-ray and CT scan cleared Perez of any broken bones, but the southpaw will receive at least a couple weeks of down time to overcome soreness.

Atlanta selected Murphy's contract from Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday.

The 22-year-old Murphy has made 16 starts this season between Double-A Columbus and Gwinnett, registering a 4.44 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 92:38 K:BB over 81 innings. Murphy has never made a relief appearance in professional ball, but Atlanta is expected to deploy him as a long man out of the bullpen to begin his time in the majors, per Mark Bowman of MLB.com.

Rincones is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals.

The Phillies will spare the left-handed-hitting Rincones from a matchup with a lefty starter (Noah Cameron) and will send him to the bench for the series finale in Kansas City. Edmundo Sosa will pick up a start in the corner outfield in place of the 25-year-old rookie, who is slashing .196/.222/.353 with two home runs, six RBI and five runs across 54 plate appearances since being called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on June 12.

Crawford is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals.

As per usual, the left-handed-hitting Crawford will hit the bench while the Phillies face off against a lefty starter (Noah Cameron) in the series finale in Kansas City. Derek Hill will fill in for Crawford in center field and will bat ninth.
