  • Nate Lowe 1B | CLE

Nationals' Nathaniel Lowe: Scratched from Friday's lineup

Lowe was removed from Friday's starting lineup against the Marlins due to an illness, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

With Lowe under the weather, Josh Bell will shift to first base, James Wood will serve as the designated hitter and Alex Call will start in left field. It's unclear if Lowe's illness is severe enough for him to be in jeopardy of missing the following two games of the series against Miami.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Mets' Jesse Winker: Riding pine vs. southpaw

Winker is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics.

Winker and his career .667 OPS against left-handed pitchers will stay put in the dugout Friday while JP Sears toes the slab for the A's. Starling Marte will fill in as the Mets' designated hitter and bat fourth.

  • Brenton Doyle CF | CHW

Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Out of lineup Friday

Doyle is not in the Rockies' starting lineup against the Padres on Friday.

Doyle will get a rest Friday while the Rockies start Mickey Moniak in center field, with Nick Martini and Zac Veen in the corners. Doyle is in the midst of a seven-game hitting streak, during which he's gone 12-for-33 with one walk, one stolen base, three home runs and 11 RBI.

  • Tyrone Taylor LF | CHC

    Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Resting Friday

Taylor isn't in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Athletics.

Taylor will get a breather after starting three consecutive games in center field, during which he went 2-for-12 with an RBI. Jose Siri will take his place and bat ninth.

  • Brett Baty 3B | NYM

Mets' Brett Baty: Sitting against lefty

Baty isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics.

The lefty-hitting Baty will grab a seat on the bench to start Friday's contest while the lefty-throwing JP Sears takes the mound for the A's. Luisangel Acuna will fill in at second base and bat seventh.

  • Ezequiel Tovar SS | COL

    Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Starting Friday

Tovar (hip) is starting at shortstop and batting third against the Padres on Friday.

Tovar was held out of Thursday's game against the Brewers due to a nagging hip issue, but he's back in the lineup for Friday's series opener against Padres right-hander Nick Pivetta. Tovar has started the season slashing .277/.306/.404 with two stolen bases, four doubles and four RBI across 49 plate appearances.

  • Luis Torrens C | NYM

Mets' Luis Torrens: Back in action Friday

Torrens (forearm) will start at catcher and bat eighth Friday against the Athletics.

Torrens has been held out of the Mets' last four games due to a bruised forearm, but he now appears to be fully healed and ready to return behind the dish. The 28-year-old is off to a strong start this year, going 6-for-20 with a homer and two RBI through eight games.

  • Padres' Sean Reynolds: Progressing in recovery

Reynolds (foot) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Friday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Reynolds is battling through a stress reaction in his right foot, which caused him to miss all of spring training and led to him starting the season on the 15-day injured list. He's progressed enough in his recovery to begin his throwing program, and the 26-year-old right-hander is aiming to throw live batting practice next week before embarking on a minor-league rehab assignment. Reynolds appeared in nine regular-season games out of the bullpen for the Padres in 2024 and logged a 0.82 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 21:5 K:BB across 11 innings.

  • Matt Waldron RP | WAS

Padres' Matt Waldron: Moved to 60-day IL

The Padres transferred Waldron (oblique) to the 60-day injured list Friday.

Waldron has been on the injured list all season due to a strained left oblique, and his move to the 60-day IL will ensure he remains out until at least late May. His roster spot will be filled by Tyler Wade, who was selected from Triple-A to replace the injured Jake Cronenworth (rib).

  • Tyler Wade SS | TEX

Padres' Tyler Wade: Joins active roster

The Padres selected Wade's contract from Triple-A El Paso on Friday.

With Jake Cronenworth (rib) headed for the injured list, the Padres will bring Wade back onto their major-league roster as infield depth. The 30-year-old appeared in 90 games for San Diego last season, slashing .217/.285/.239 with eight RBI and eight steals across 155 plate appearances. Matt Waldron (oblique) was transferred to the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.
