Kelly is not in the Cubs' starting lineup against the Dodgers on Friday.

Kelly will sit for a second straight game as Miguel Amaya gets the start behind home plate and bats ninth against Dodgers right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Kelly is 7-for-21 with two homers, eight walks, 10 RBI and five runs scored so far this season.

Smith isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against Milwaukee.

Smith has been white-hot to start the season, slashing .400/.486/.667 through his first 35 plate appearances, but the D-backs won't risk him cooling down against the left-handed Jose Quintana on Friday. Randal Grichuk will serve as the team's DH instead and bat third.

Thomas is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Brewers.

The Brewers will send out left-hander Jose Quintana to make his season debut Friday, so the D-backs will keep the left-handed bat of Thomas on the bench. Jake McCarthy will fill in as Arizona's center fielder and bat eighth.

Tawa isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Brewers.

Tawa will head to the bench for Friday's series opener after going 1-for-4 with two RBI in Wednesday's win over Baltimore. Garrett Hampson will start at second base and bat ninth.

Tatis (shoulder) will start in right field and bat leadoff Friday against the Rockies, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

A sore left shoulder forced Tatis to make an early exit from Tuesday's game, and he was left out of the starting nine Wednesday as well. After getting another day to rest Thursday thanks to a scheduled off day, the 26-year-old now seems to be feeling better. He'll aim to continue what's been a great start to the season, as he owns a .364/.442/.523 slash line with two homers, seven RBI, 10 runs scored and five stolen bases through 12 games.

Muncy is not in the Dodgers' starting lineup against the Cubs on Friday, Noah Camras of DodgersNation.com reports.

With the Cubs sending left-hander Matthew Boyd to the mound, Muncy will begin Friday's game in the dugout while Miguel Rojas starts at third base and bats ninth. Muncy has gone 6-for-25 with three doubles, two RBI and 11 strikeouts since the beginning of April.

The Dodgers reinstated Freeman (ankle) from the 10-day injured list Friday.

Freeman has been sidelined since March 31 after slipping in the shower and tweaking his surgically repaired right ankle, but he'll now return to the Dodgers' lineup after a minimum-length IL stint. Prior to his injury, the star first baseman had gone 3-for-12 with two home runs and four RBI in three games.

Quintana will start against the Diamondbacks on Friday after being recalled by Milwaukee from the Rookie ACL Brewers, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Quintana spent much of the offseason as a free agent, but he signed a one-year deal with the Brewers in early March and opted to start the year in the minors to get stretched out. With multiple Milwaukee starters on the injured list, Quintana will get the call-up Friday and make his first appearance in a Brewers uniform, though it's uncertain what type of workload he will handle in his debut. The veteran southpaw went 10-10 across 31 regular-season starts for the Mets in 2024, posting a 3.75 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 135:63 K:BB across 170.1 innings.

The Brewers optioned Peguero to Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

After turning in a career-best 2.98 ERA last season, Peguero has struggled to begin 2025, allowing four earned runs in just 6.1 innings. He'll now head to Triple-A in order to get back on track, and his roster spot will be given to Jose Quintana, who officially joined the big-league club for his season debut Friday.

Call is starting in left field and batting sixth against the Marlins on Friday.

Call was initially slated for a day off Friday, but he's been inserted into the Nationals' starting lineup due to Nathaniel Lowe (illness) being scratched. Across seven games, Call has gone 8-for-20 with five walks, one stolen base and five RBI.
