  • Padres' Nick Castellanos: DFA'd by San Diego

The Padres designated Castellanos for assignment Wednesday.

The Padres gladly scooped Castellanos up for the league minimum in February after he was cut loose by the Phillies, but he simply didn't hit enough to justify a roster spot, slashing only .191/.221/.339 with four home runs and a 5:34 BB:K over 39 contests. The 34-year-old Castellanos could be hard-pressed to find another major-league contract at this point.

  • Padres' Jeremiah Estrada: Responsible for loss

Estrada (2-2) picked up the loss after giving up the eventual game-winning run in a 3-2 loss to Philadelphia on Tuesday.

Estrada entered the game in the bottom of the sixth with the score tied at 2-2. The 27-year-old allowed Bryce Harper to cross home plate as the go-ahead run as a result of an Alec Bohm double play, limiting the damage at just one run. Estrada has given up two earned runs over his last two appearances after previously pitching 4.2 scoreless innings. The right-hander now sports a 3.48 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 23:10 K:BB through 20.2 innings this season.

  • Keaton Anthony 1B | PHI

Phillies' Keaton Anthony: Recovers from fractured toe

Triple-A Lehigh Valley activated Anthony (toe) from the 7-day injured list Tuesday.

Following a rehab assignment with Single-A Clearwater and then High-A Jersey Shore, Anthony is back in action with the Triple-A club. Anthony, who missed about two months of play with a fractured toe, went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in his return to the IronPigs on Tuesday.

  • Bobby Miller SP | LAD

Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Set to resume mound work

Miller (shoulder/back) will resume throwing off the mound this week, Cody Snavely of DodgersBeat.com reports.

Miller suffered a right shoulder injury early on in spring training, and he revealed Tuesday that he then dealt with a back injury that slowed his throwing progression. However, Miller noted that he's progressed well since then and is "getting stronger and stronger." Miller's career has been sidetracked by injury and poor performance the last two years, and it's unclear whether the Dodgers will have him work as a starter or reliever at Triple-A Oklahoma City once he's ready to report there. He was moved to the bullpen last July at OKC but held a 5.52 ERA and 31:20 K:BB over 31 innings in a relief role.

  • Gavin Stone SP | LAD

Dodgers' Gavin Stone: Unable to ramp up throwing

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed Tuesday that Stone has been unable to ramp up his throwing without feeling soreness in his surgically repaired right shoulder, Cody Snavely of DodgersBeat.com reports.

Stone was shut down for several weeks after feeling discomfort following his first Cactus League appearance. He resumed throwing in early April at the team's spring training facility in Arizona, but according to Roberts, Stone's shoulder issue "sort of shows itself again" when the hurler attempts to advance in his throwing program. Roberts added Tuesday of Stone that he's "not sure exactly where he's at in this progression," but clearly he is not going to be an option in the majors anytime soon.

  • Mark Vientos 1B | NYM

Mets' Mark Vientos: Sitting again Wednesday

Vientos is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners.

Vientos will head to the bench for the second time in the three-game series with Seattle while he's mired in extended slump at the dish. Over his last 12 games, Vientos has slashed .146/.167/.244 while drawing no walks and striking out at a 26.2 percent clip. The Mets will go with Jared Young at first base in place of Vientos on Wednesday.

  • Joey Gerber RP | NYM

Mets' Joey Gerber: Moves up from Triple-A

The Mets recalled Gerber from Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday.

New York will bring Gerber aboard to give the bullpen a fresh right-handed arm heading into Wednesday's series finale in Seattle. The Mets optioned right-hander Jonah Tong to Triple-A to make room on the active roster for Gerber, who previously struck out five batters over a two-inning appearance in his lone outing of the season at the big-league level back on April 13.

  • TJ Friedl CF | CIN

Reds' TJ Friedl: Handed demotion to Triple-A

The Reds optioned Friedl to Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.

Friedl posted a .742 OPS over 152 games in 2025 while serving as the Reds' primary leadoff man, but he's seen his productivity at the dish crater this season. The 30-year-old has slashed a lowly .179/.259/.256 over 178 plate appearances thus far in 2026, with his struggles resulting in the Reds scaling back his playing time in mid-May and dropping him down to the bottom of the lineup during his starts. After holding Friedl out of the starting nine for the last three games, the Reds have now decided to send him back to Louisville with the hope that he returns to form while getting the chance to play on an everyday basis. Cincinnati recalled Noelvi Marte from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

  • Noelvi Marte RF | CIN

Reds' Noelvi Marte: Recalled to Cincinnati

The Reds recalled Marte from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday

Marte will rejoin Cincinnati after being optioned to Triple-A on April 13 after posting a .332 OPS over his first 11 MLB games of the year. In 160 at-bats in the minors, the 24-year-old was slashing a scorching hot .369/.409/.575 with eight home runs. To make room for Marte on the big-league club, TJ Friedl was optioned to Louisville.

  • Aidan Miller SS | PHI

Phillies' Aidan Miller: Slated for back surgery

The Phillies announced that Miller will undergo a radiofrequency ablation of the facet joints in his back Friday and is expected to be sidelined 6-to-8 weeks, Paul Casella of MLB.com reports.

Miller might have pushed for a promotion to the majors by now had he been healthy and performing well at Lehigh Valley. However, he's been sidelined all season with nagging back problems, and a decision was made to have the minimally invasive procedure after he visited with multiple spine specialists. The top prospect will rest for one week before beginning the rehab process, and he could be ready to play for Triple-A Lehigh Valley as soon as late July.
