The Cardinals designated Zimmermann for assignment before Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Brewers.

Zimmermann coughed up three earned runs in five innings while working in bulk relief during the first half of Tuesday's twin bill, and he'll lose his place on the 40-man roster now that his services are no longer needed. Jared Shuster will come up from Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move to add bullpen depth.

The Cardinals selected Shuster's contract from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

Since his last appearance in the big leagues May 6, Shuster has turned in a 9.00 ERA and 2.39 WHIP alongside a 16:14 K:BB across 18 innings with Memphis. Despite his poor performance, he'll return to the Cardinals' bullpen to give the big club a fresh arm for the second game of its doubleheader against Milwaukee. Bruce Zimmermann was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Edman (foot/ankle) will start in left field and bat fifth Tuesday against the Rockies, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Problems with his surgically repaired right foot/ankle kept Edman out of the starting nine for the Dodgers' last two games, though he came in off the bench in both contests. Now healthy and back in the lineup, he'll aim to stay hot after slashing .347/439/.510 with nine RBI and six runs scored in 17 games since his return from the injured list June 17.

Lara is starting in center field and batting second in Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.

The 21-year-old was promoted prior to the start of the twin bill and didn't see the field in Game 1, but he'll fill a marquee spot in the lineup while making his MLB debut in the nightcap. Lara is one of Milwaukee's top prospects and has posted a .910 OPS with nine homers and 24 steals in 78 games at Triple-A Nashville this season.

Mitchell isn't in the lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.

Mitchell went 2-for-4 and drove in a run during Milwaukee's Game 1 victory, but he'll move to the bench to allow Luis Lara to make his MLB debut while starting in center field during the nightcap.

Chourio isn't in the lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against St. Louis.

Chourio will retreat to the bench for the final half of Tuesday's twin bill after going 0-for-5 at the plate in Game 1. Jake Bauers will fill in as Milwaukee's left fielder, affording Andrew Vaughn a start at first base.

Contreras isn't in the lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.

Contreras will grab a seat on the bench after going 0-for-4 with a walk during the first half of Tuesday's festivities. While he rests, Gary Sanchez will start at catcher and bat sixth.

The Phillies plan to reinstate Keller (forearm) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Keller made two rehab appearances with Triple-A Lehigh Valley over the weekend, and the Phillies will give him two days to rest up before activating him from the IL. The right-hander has recoded three saves and 13 holds with a 4.15 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 31:12 K:BB across 30.1 innings this year.

Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Tuesday that Taillon (hamstring) is expected to make another rehab start before returning from the 15-day injured list, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Though Taillon joined the team in Baltimore for the start of their six-game road trip, Counsell said that the right-hander won't be activated this week unless the Cubs lose one of their healthy starters to an injury and have to adjust the rotation on the fly. Assuming Taillon isn't needed, he'll report to an affiliate over the weekend to make the second start of his rehab assignment before returning from the IL following the All-Star break. Taillon made his first rehab start this past Sunday at High-A South Bend, tossing 3.1 innings and 45 pitches (32 strikes) while striking out two and allowing one run on four hits and zero walks.

Marte is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies.

Marte will head to the bench for the second time in three games while the Reds go with Spencer Steer in right field. After getting off to a hot start upon being recalled from Triple-A Louisville on June 3, Marte has gone 6-for-41 (.146 average) with a 27.3 percent strikeout rate over his last 12 games.
