  • Mets' Marcus Semien: Turnaround continues Thursday

Semien went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI in Thursday's win over the Phillies. The veteran second baseman's two-run triple in the seventh inning wound up being the game-winning hit in a 6-4 victory. Semien has four multi-hit performances in the last 12 games, a stretch in which he's slashing .273/.360/.523 with three homers, one steal, six runs and six RBI.

  • Mets' Marcus Semien: Slugs ninth homer

Semien went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over Atlanta. The veteran second baseman took Bryce Elder deep in the fifth inning, going back-to-back with rookie A.J. Ewing to extend the Mets' lead in an eventual 8-1 romp. Semien has had a tough start to his New York tenure, but he's at least found his power stroke the last few weeks. Over his last 18 games, Semien's launched six of his nine homers on the year, but during that stretch he's batting just .231 (15-for-65) with a 25.4 percent strikeout rate.

  • Mets' Marcus Semien: Clubs another homer Sunday

Semien went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Sunday's 7-3 win over San Diego. Semien unloaded for his second homer in as many days, lofting a Randy Vasquez slider over the left-field wall for a solo shot in the second inning. The second baseman has been on a power surge of late, going 7-for-25 (.280) with four homers over his past seven games. On the year, the 35-year-old is slashing .226/.277/.362 with eight homers, 25 RBI, 26 runs and five stolen bases across 65 games.

  • Mets' Marcus Semien: Slugs homer in loss

Semien went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and a second run scored in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Padres. Semien's strong effort at the plate snapped an 0-for-12 skid. He's hit three homers over his last six games as he shows some flashes of getting his season on track. Overall, the second baseman is batting .222 with a .623 OPS, seven homers, 24 RBI, 25 runs scored, eight doubles and five stolen bases on seven attempts through 64 games.

  • Mets' Marcus Semien: Goes deep again Monday

Semien went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 3-2 loss against the Mariners. Semien rocketed the seventh pitch of his at-bat against Emerson Hancock over the left-field fence in the sixth inning to give the Mets a brief 2-1 lead. It marked Semien's second homer in as many days and third long ball across his past seven games, during which he has gone 8-for-23 (.348). It's been a challenging first season in New York for the second baseman, who's hitting .228 with a .630 OPS, six homers, 23 RBI, 23 runs and five stolen bases across 60 games.

  • Mets' Marcus Semien: Perfect at plate in rout

Semien went 2-for-2 with a home run, two walks, two RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 10-1 win over the Marlins. Semien reached base in each of his plate appearances for the first time this season, highlighted by a two-run blast in the second inning. The 35-year-old recorded a hit in all three games this weekend but will finish May with a .235 average across 28 contests. For the year, he's slashing .226/.280/.335 with five home runs, 22 RBI, 22 runs scored and five steals over 233 plate appearances.

  • Mets' Marcus Semien: Slaps fourth long ball in loss

Semien went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Reds. Semien finally got the Mets on the board in the sixth inning, leading off the frame with a solo homer off Nick Lodolo after the left-hander had silenced New York's lineup through the first five frames. The blast was Semien's fourth homer of the season and a much-needed encouraging sign amid a recent slump. Entering Monday, the veteran infielder was batting just .158 with an ugly .171 OBP over his previous 10 games.

  • Mets' Marcus Semien: Pops third homer

Semien went 2-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run and a second run scored in Thursday's win over the Tigers. The veteran second baseman took Ricky Vanasco deep in the eighth inning, the fifth of five Mets long balls on the afternoon. Semien has had a sluggish start to his tenure with his new team, but he may be getting comfortable -- over the last eight games, he's batting .310 (9-for-29) with a double and two of his three homers on the year, as well as a 4:5 BB:K.

  • Mets' Marcus Semien: Big game in win

Semien went 4-for-5 with a two-run home run, a double and three total runs scored in Wednesday's 10-5 win over the Rockies. Semien's four hits Wednesday matched the total from his previous seven games combined. The homer was his first since April 3 in San Francisco, and this was the first time he'd logged an extra-base hit since April 23 against the Twins. Semien is now batting .231 with a .602 OPS, two homers, 13 RBI, 11 runs scored, six doubles and four stolen bases over 36 contests. He's getting steady playing time but often hitting in the bottom half of the order due to his struggles at the plate early in the year -- he's hit above the No. 5 spot just once all season.

  • Mets' Marcus Semien: Getting turn in leadoff spot

Semien will start at second base and bat leadoff in Tuesday's game against the Twins. Semien is slashing only .234/.294/.312 on the season but has reached base eight times across his last four contests. The mini hot stretch has earned Semien a turn in the leadoff spot for the first time this season as the Mets try to snap an 11-game losing streak.

  • Mets' Marcus Semien: Homers in three-hit game

Semien went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI in Friday's 10-3 win over the Giants. Semien logged just his second multi-hit effort of the season. It included a fourth-inning homer, his first of the campaign and his first extra-base hit since Opening Day. The second baseman is still batting just .214 despite the big game, but his struggles have yet to cost him playing time. Semien was limited to 15 homers in 127 regular-season games for the Rangers last season, but he had hit at least 23 long balls while playing in at least 159 games in each of the previous four campaigns. Semien's sub-.700 OPS marks in each of the last two years are discouraging, especially since age is not on the side of the 35-year-old for a potential bounce-back year. He'll need to hit better if he's going to move up from the No. 7 spot in the order he's occupied for the first week of the season.

  • Mets' Marcus Semien: Scuffling to begin year

Semien went 0-for-4 with a walk and two strikeouts in Wednesday's extra-innings loss to the Cardinals. The 35-year-old second baseman missed chances to play hero for the Mets in both the ninth and 11th innings, recording the final out with runners in scoring position each time. Semien is struggling to find a rhythm at the plate to begin his first season in New York, going 2-for-20 with a double, two RBI and a 3:8 BB:K through six games, but his still-excellent defense will keep him in an everyday role for now and provide him with plenty of leash to figure things out.

  • Mets' Marcus Semien: Swats second spring homer

Semien went 1-for-2 with a home run and three RBI in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Blue Jays. Facing one of his former clubs, Semien drove a cutter from minor leaguer Grant Rogers over the left-field fence in the first inning. It was the veteran second baseman's second homer of the spring, but Semien hasn't exactly been locked in at the plate in camp, batting .172 (5-for-29) in 11 games with a 1:9 BB:K. After posting a career-low .669 OPS for the Rangers in 2025, the Mets are hoping Semien can rebound in a new environment while providing his usual strong defense, but the 35-year-old hasn't produced a hard-hit rate above the 26th percentile since 2021. There simply may not be much juice left to squeeze out of his bat.

  • Mets' Marcus Semien: Headed to New York

The Rangers are trading Semien to the Mets in exchange for outfielder Brandon Nimmo, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Semien's numbers have been trending down in recent years, and his .669 OPS last season was the lowest mark of his career. However, the 35-year-old still provided a mix of moderate power and speed with 15 homers and 11 stolen bases, and he offers elite defense at second base, as he's coming off winning his second Gold Glove Award. Semien ended the campaign on the 60-day injured list due to a foot injury, but he's expected to have a normal offseason and to be ready for spring training. Nimmo has a full no-trade clause in his contract, but per Will Sammon of The Athletic, the outfielder has already approved the deal.

  • Rangers' Marcus Semien: Expected to have normal offseason

Rangers general manager Ross Fenstermaker said Friday that Semien (foot) is expected to have a normal offseason, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports. Semien last played in late August due to a fractured third metatarsal and a Lisfranc sprain in his left foot, but he has not encountered any setbacks in his recovery and will not have his offseason training interrupted. The veteran second baseman slashed .230/.305/.364 with 15 home runs and 11 stolen bases over 127 contests in 2025.

  • Rangers' Marcus Semien: Moves to 60-day IL

The Rangers transferred Semien (foot) to the 60-day injured list Saturday. Semien has already been ruled out for the 2025 season due to a fractured third metatarsal and a Lisfranc sprain in his left foot. His move to the 60-day IL will simply act as a way to clear space on the 40-man roster for Dom Hamel, who was claimed off waivers from the Orioles on Saturday.

  • Rangers' Marcus Semien: Ruled out for 2025

Manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday that Semien (foot) will not play again this season, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports. Semien resumed taking live BP and running Friday, but with the Rangers five games out of a wild-card spot with six to play, the team will pull the plug on its efforts to get the veteran infielder back in the lineup this year. He'll close the book on 2025 with a career-low .669 OPS alongside 15 homers, 62 RBI, 62 runs scored and 11 steals through 127 games. Cody Freeman projects to be the Rangers' primary second baseman for the remainder of the regular season.

  • Rangers' Marcus Semien: More baseball activity

Semien (foot) took live batting practice and did some running Friday, MLB.com reports. Semien ramped up his activity this week and is hoping to get on the field with the limited time left in the regular season. The Rangers have lost five consecutive games and sit five games back of the final wild-card spot with eight left to play. Ultimately, whether Semien returns to the active roster may depend on the team's slim playoff hopes.

  • Rangers' Marcus Semien: Takes batting practice Monday

Semien (foot) was spotted taking batting practice on the field Monday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports. The team has yet to offer up a timeline for Semien's return after he went down with a broken left foot in late August, but it's a positive sign that he's progressed to taking on-field BP. Texas is a few games back from a wild-card spot, so the club would certainly welcome Semien back into the fold down the stretch if he's cleared for game action.

  • Rangers' Marcus Semien: Shelved with bruised foot

Texas placed Semien on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to a left foot contusion. Semien has been out of the lineup since Thursday, when he fouled a ball off his left foot during a game against the Royals. Though the veteran infielder is slated to meet with a foot doctor Sunday, the Rangers decided not to wait until the results of that meeting to place him on the IL. The transaction made room on the 26-man active roster for outfielder Adolis Garcia (ankle), who was reinstated from the IL. Semien's everyday role at second base could be assumed by a combination of Ezequiel Duran, Josh Smith and/or Cody Freeman, the latter of whom will start at the position Saturday versus Cleveland.
