  • Mets' Marcus Semien: Big game in win

Semien went 4-for-5 with a two-run home run, a double and three total runs scored in Wednesday's 10-5 win over the Rockies.

Semien's four hits Wednesday matched the total from his previous seven games combined. The homer was his first since April 3 in San Francisco, and this was the first time he'd logged an extra-base hit since April 23 against the Twins. Semien is now batting .231 with a .602 OPS, two homers, 13 RBI, 11 runs scored, six doubles and four stolen bases over 36 contests. He's getting steady playing time but often hitting in the bottom half of the order due to his struggles at the plate early in the year -- he's hit above the No. 5 spot just once all season.

  • Mets' Marcus Semien: Getting turn in leadoff spot

Semien will start at second base and bat leadoff in Tuesday's game against the Twins.

Semien is slashing only .234/.294/.312 on the season but has reached base eight times across his last four contests. The mini hot stretch has earned Semien a turn in the leadoff spot for the first time this season as the Mets try to snap an 11-game losing streak.

  • Mets' Marcus Semien: Swipes bag in loss

Semien went 2-for-3 with a stolen base in Sunday's extra-inning loss to the Cubs.

The steal was Semien's first of the season. The veteran second baseman has had a sluggish start to the season, slashing .234/.294/.312 through 22 games with three doubles, a homer, three runs and eight RBI, but he could be heating up -- Semien's racked up six hits in the last four contests.

  • Mets' Marcus Semien: Homers in three-hit game

Semien went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI in Friday's 10-3 win over the Giants.

Semien logged just his second multi-hit effort of the season. It included a fourth-inning homer, his first of the campaign and his first extra-base hit since Opening Day. The second baseman is still batting just .214 despite the big game, but his struggles have yet to cost him playing time. Semien was limited to 15 homers in 127 regular-season games for the Rangers last season, but he had hit at least 23 long balls while playing in at least 159 games in each of the previous four campaigns. Semien's sub-.700 OPS marks in each of the last two years are discouraging, especially since age is not on the side of the 35-year-old for a potential bounce-back year. He'll need to hit better if he's going to move up from the No. 7 spot in the order he's occupied for the first week of the season.

  • Mets' Marcus Semien: Scuffling to begin year

Semien went 0-for-4 with a walk and two strikeouts in Wednesday's extra-innings loss to the Cardinals.

The 35-year-old second baseman missed chances to play hero for the Mets in both the ninth and 11th innings, recording the final out with runners in scoring position each time. Semien is struggling to find a rhythm at the plate to begin his first season in New York, going 2-for-20 with a double, two RBI and a 3:8 BB:K through six games, but his still-excellent defense will keep him in an everyday role for now and provide him with plenty of leash to figure things out.

  • Mets' Marcus Semien: Swats second spring homer

Semien went 1-for-2 with a home run and three RBI in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Blue Jays.

Facing one of his former clubs, Semien drove a cutter from minor leaguer Grant Rogers over the left-field fence in the first inning. It was the veteran second baseman's second homer of the spring, but Semien hasn't exactly been locked in at the plate in camp, batting .172 (5-for-29) in 11 games with a 1:9 BB:K. After posting a career-low .669 OPS for the Rangers in 2025, the Mets are hoping Semien can rebound in a new environment while providing his usual strong defense, but the 35-year-old hasn't produced a hard-hit rate above the 26th percentile since 2021. There simply may not be much juice left to squeeze out of his bat.
