Lux started at third base and went 1-for-3 with a run scored in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Mariners.

With the Reds finally at full health in the infield and outfield, Lux made his first start of the season at third base. This was the primary position manger Terry Francona envisioned for the versatile Lux, but an injury to Austin Hays and Spencer Steer being limited to DH due to a shoulder forced Lux to left field for the early part of the season. Lux was eventually pinch hit for by Santiago Espinal in the eighth inning against Seattle lefty Gabe Speier. The former has a career line of .199/.277/.267 against southpaws, which suggests he may not be in the starting lineup when the Reds face lefties.

Miller allowed a walk and struck out two over a scoreless inning, earning a hold in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Marlins.

Miller opened the bottom of the seventh and recorded his third hold. The walk was just the third baserunner he's allowed all season. The 34-year-old right-hander, in his first season with the Diamondbacks, has yet to allow a run or hit over eight innings (seven outings). Along with Jalen Beeks, another newcomer that preceded Miller with a scoreless sixth inning, the duo has combined to post a 0.48 ERA over 18.2 innings

Beeks threw a scoreless third of an inning, striking out the lone batter faced, and earned a hold in Wednesday's 6-2 win over Miami.

Beeks required the three-pitch minimum -- all four seamers -- to strike out Liam Hicks and strand a runner. It was the seventh scoreless outing out of eight for the left-hander, who has given Arizona good depth in the bullpen during his first season with the team. Beeks has allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out 10 over 10.2 innings.

Martinez worked a scoreless inning, retiring all three batters he faced in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Marlins.

With the Diamondbacks holding a 4-1 lead entering the eighth inning, manager Torey Lovullo had the late-game crew -- Martinez and A.J. Puk -- warming in the bullpen. Arizona then scored twice in the top half of the inning, increasing the lead to beyond what would qualify as a save. Lovullo stuck to the plan and had Puk work the bottom of the eighth with left-handers due up, then brought in Martinez to finish up. The latter needed just eight pitches to seal the win, making his seventh straight scoreless appearance to start the season.

Suarez (back) allowed one run on three hits and one walk while striking out seven in four innings during his second minor-league rehab start Wednesday for Single-A Clearwater, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Suarez was sharp, tossing 39 of his 54 pitches for strikes. It's unclear how many more rehab appearances the left-hander will need during his recovery from back stiffness, but the Phillies would figure to want him to be stretched out further than the 50-pitch range. Suarez will likely make at least one more start in the minors before Philadelphia considers activating him from the injured list, but he's still on track to rejoin the rotation before the end of April.

Doyle (quadriceps) went 0-for-1 with a strikeout in a loss to the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Doyle began on the bench for the sixth straight game due to a quad injury, but he saw action for the first time during that span as a pinch hitter in the ninth frame. The emerging young outfielder looked overmatched in that plate appearance, striking out on four pitches against Tanner Scott, but it was nonetheless a good sign for his status moving forward that he was able to get into the contest. The Rockies are off Thursday, so Doyle's next chance to return to the outfield will be Friday versus Washington.

Toglia went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in a loss to the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Toglia showed promising power with 25 home runs over 116 games last season, but he came into Wednesday with no long balls and 29 strikeouts over 63 plate appearances this year. He couldn't cure his punchout woes Wednesday -- Toglia struck out three more times -- but he did get off the schneid in terms of power, slugging a grand slam off Bobby Miller in the third inning. Toglia's strikeout rate and .172 batting average remain problematic, but the Rockies have so far remained committed to him, putting him in the lineup at first base on a near-everyday basis.

Pages went 2-for-3 with a run and three RBI in Wednesday's 8-7 victory versus Colorado.

Pages knocked in a pair of runs with a first-inning single and added another RBI on a single in the fifth. The second-year outfielder had been in need of a big performance, as he came into Wednesday in a 1-for-12 drought at the plate over his previous four games. Pages is still batting a meager .175 on the season, though the Dodgers have practiced patience with him, giving him a near-everyday spot in the lineup.

Freeman went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk against the Rockies on Wednesday in an 8-7 victory.

Freeman contributed to a seven-run Los Angeles first inning with a solo shot to right-center field. The star first baseman added a single later in the game to collect his third consecutive multi-hit performance. After a relatively slow start to the season, Freeman's hot three-game stretch has boosted his season batting average from .211 to .333, though he's played in only nine contests so far due to a nagging ankle injury.

Ohtani went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in an 8-7 win against Colorado on Wednesday.

Ohtani led off the bottom half of the first inning in jaw-dropping fashion, belting a 448-foot solo shot to right field off veteran German Marquez. The two-way star plated another run (albeit in less dramatic fashion) later in the frame on a single to right field to cap a seven-run opening inning for Los Angeles. Ohtani is tied for fourth in the league with six home runs, and he's added five steals, putting him on pace to approach a 40-40 campaign after logging MLB's first ever 50-50 season last year.
